New Mitch Ballard work of our favourite "boys in blue" (and red) (Now with added caption competition and larger images linked) As if my Robin Model Sheet wasn't enough, I just got e-mailed these commissions I've been looking forward to! Mitch Ballard can take a lot of the credit (or blame! >:-) ) for my collection, since it was through his first commission for me that the possibilities of the genre opened up to me. The result of my request for Dick as Robin as a prisoner of Deathstroke the Terminator has been posted too many times for me to inflict it on you again, but it showed me what a talented artist could do.... But for me, this is the most recognizable the characters have been in years. And what finer way to celebrate that than with an X-man tradition? 02:36 pm [icon_uk] [Link]	X-Men Sketchcard cuteness For Monday morning in the USA I bring you unbridled cuteness to lighten the day I've posted artist specific sketchcards in the past, and I recently found these from the new "X-Men Archives" set, the sketchcards by the Katie Cook, an artist whose cute style is utterly charming, and infinitely flexible. I can thoroughly recommend checking out her website here, where she covers ever pop culture fanbase going (Sriously, she even manages to make ObiWan watching the recording of Anakin killing the Jedi "younglings" look cute and sad (as opposed to the movie, which made it somehow hilarious, or maybe that was just me). She posted these herself on the Scoundrel Art Community forum, so I don't feel guilty for posting them here. A couple of my favourites at a large size. followed by LOTS of images I'm pretty much expecting to see as icons within two days! 01:45 am [proteus_lives] [Link]	Proteus vs. Wolverine: Shreds of Humanity Greetings True Believers! I'm here again. This is the back-up story from Classic X-Men #32. It's called "Shreds of Humanity" and it stars Proteus, Wolverine and Nightcrawler. But it's really about Wolverine. I was going to post it for the OPM week but Photobucket scanblocked me. This story is so bad-ass so I'm going to post it anyway. The tale is set during the X-Men's epic battle with the mutant villain Proteus. (One the defining moments of Marvel's merry Mutants, as one of their main purposes is to not only protect mutants from the rest of humanity but to protect the human race against out-of-control mutants.) This story is also prime Wolverine. Before he was overexposed, on million teams and suffed from the "god" syndrome. (Like Batgod, Wolviegod, Supergod.) He was one of the strongest characters of the X-Men's second generation. He was a grown man, bitter and jaded. He had no past and did not fully embrace the X-Men's peaceful philosophy. He loved Jean and his "rival" relationship with Scott gave us one of comicdom's truly great love triangles. He was a gruff older brother to Nightcrawler and Colossus. A threat to members like Iceman and Angel, a fellow rogue to members like Banshee and Thunderbird. Wolvie in his prime was a lot of different things but he was always pure bad-ass, which this post shows. Enjoy! But nevertheless one person seems to miss her the most, and that is Piotr Rasputin. He just lives his life by rote, exercising, teaching. "lifting heavy things," but not smiling and not painting. So his friends Logan and Kurt decide to cheer him up, and get the rest of the X-Men to help out. From X-Men Manifest Destiny #3, 2 1/2 pages of an 8 page story.
