"How Not to Cheer Someone Up," by the X-Men
With Kitty fused in a Giant Space Bullet and out in space somewhere, a lot of people miss her (like me). But nevertheless one person seems to miss her the most, and that is Piotr Rasputin. He just lives his life by rote, exercising, teaching. "lifting heavy things," but not smiling and not painting. So his friends Logan and Kurt decide to cheer him up, and get the rest of the X-Men to help out.

From X-Men Manifest Destiny #3, 2 1/2 pages of an 8 page story. Written by Christ Yost with pencils by Humberto Ramos.

First Logan and Kurt get another X-Man to pick a fight with Piotr, but that doesn't work. So they move onto other things:

I found Quantum of Solace to be depressing as well, mostly due to how very much better Casino Royale was.

The runaway trolley is of course orchestrated by Logan. Logan finally just yells as Piotr to cheer up, dammit, and Piotr calmly tells him that he would if he could, so please stop trying to cheer him up.

Poor woobie.

I love that Colossus is in full uniform and armor, so he can learn to use Twitter.

For serious, its a harsh system to learn.

I love it when the X-Men do stuff that is not fighting! Also, KURT.

As do I, but I also prefer it when the stuff that's "not fighting" has the added benefit of not making people who have known each other for years look like idiots.

I hade no hopes about this story. Boring Colossus crying about a girl because she's in hollydays in space? Meh!
But Yost wrote a fun story instead of a whiney one and it was awesome.
Mostly thanks to the New X-Men.
Santo: "Get some sensitivity! His girlfriends's dead or something!". Everything this guy says when Yost writes him cracks me up.

hollydays in space . . .
as much as I love that phrase right there, I have to disagree with you

having your girlfriend attached to a planet sized bullet that's shooting through space at an ungodly speed going who knows where would be pretty traumatic

cause remember, he's actually in the comic - he doesn't know like we do that people never stay dead in comics

Oh, you make me hope. Surely Marvel will make me pay for that.

Kurt's forearm and tail across the table and "Ja!" = me ded xD

Also, that last page is adorable. I second the "poor woobie" sentiment.

I love this story, I wish Marvel would publish more like it!
