New Mitch Ballard work of our favourite "boys in blue" (and red) (Now with added caption competition and larger images linked) As if my Robin Model Sheet wasn't enough, I just got e-mailed these commissions I've been looking forward to! Mitch Ballard can take a lot of the credit (or blame! >:-) ) for my collection, since it was through his first commission for me that the possibilities of the genre opened up to me. The result of my request for Dick as Robin as a prisoner of Deathstroke the Terminator has been posted too many times for me to inflict it on you again, but it showed me what a talented artist could do.... 02:17 pm [icon_uk] [Link]	Dick meets his natural nemesis.... One of my frequent complaints about the Dixon Nightwing run was the absence of decent villains for our former Boy Wonder. For a kid who'd grown up fighting the Joker, Two-Face, Scarecrow and Mad Hatter with Batman, and the likes of the Fearsome Five, The Brotherhood of Evil, Trigon and many others with the Titans, there were mighty slim pickings in Bludhaven. 05:43 pm [galateus] [Link]	Four Swords+ part three: "Day of the Tentacle" (manga: read right to left) A bit of a late entry, but part four should be back on track. Nothing to do with either Theme Week, but it does contain blatant subtext that even context can't make better. Unlike the other posts, this is less plot advancement and characterization and more of an eclectic collection of "special" moments in the series, but if you want to catch up on who these people are: Previously, on Four Swords+... (CHUN-CHUN.) Our hero, Link, was struck by a radioactive magic sword, from that day forward becoming Quadruplicate Lad. The four Links could never really get along, even in the face of certain doom. So without the mightiest superpower of all to save them (it's teamwork), the merciless river rapids destroyed their stolen boat and sent the Links to an early, watery grave. ( Or did it? ) ( If you find heterosexuality offensive, do not click ) Of course, because this is Japan, that one Seduction of the Innocent moment is completely eclipsed by the homoerotic subtext that follows...in spite of the minor obstacle of all the characters involved being the same person. (God, I love this series.) ( One Link, Two Link: Red Link/Blue Link! ) ( I don't remember the final boss fight looking like this... ) ( Even when, sadly, the adventure is over... ) Really brings up the age-old question of "does that make it narcissism, incest, or masturbation" doesn't it? ...What's that? You say I've been skipping something? Oh, right. The entire plot. There's plenty of that, even with some subtext that's actually subtle, in the next installment. That bittersweet ending might still be coming, but it ain't here yet. On the next Four Swords+... My latest commission - Freddie Williams II Okay, well it's here, and once again, though I might be biased, I think I've really hit the jackpot with my commission! :) Freddie Williams II is, as others have noted, an utter joy to deal with as a commission artist and I can't recommend him strongly enough. When I asked for a Robin and villain piece, he asked if he could use the Joker, and since I couldn't recall ever seeing him do the Joker before, I was interested to see how it went. I suggested a few possibilities as to scenario, and he adored this idea in particular. 12:29 am [icon_uk] [Link]	Robin's Worst Week - A requested reposting from the old s_d This is from Batman 246 - Story by Frank Robbins, Art by Dick Dillin, Irv Novick and Dick Giordano It's one of those covers that I'm sure just LEAPT off of the gets endlessly repeated by those with delightfully prurient minds.. in other words the entire membership of scans_daily! But what goes on inside this testament to ~~the perils of dabbling with autoerotic asphyxiation~~ horror and fear? This masterclass in "Sidekick in peril"-dom? Now the story can be told... well, selected chunks of it. (I think this totals out at around 7 pages from a 23 page story.) TIED UP ROBIN! And so, to rectify that, I've gone digging through my archives to come up with a selection of published pages and commission work which fits the bill.
