How're you doing?

It's strange to realize I've been here for more than half a year now. It's even stranger to think that it feels like home. I think a lot of that has to do with the people who are here and the community we have built here. Having a group of us with shared needs reminds us that none of us are alone in this, I think.

Which brings me to an idea I had. Our compound has some empty spaces for new businesses, yes? I was thinking about putting together a kind of thrift store or sorts. We would all be able to donate unused clothing items, if we wished to - those outside our community would be able to do the same, too, I think. Perhaps if it is successful enough, some newer items could be brought in, as well, but the idea would be to have a place here in the compound we could go to find new (or gently used but knew to you!) clothing for a reasonable price. I'd even consider letting new arrivals pick out a few pieces at no charge during their first week or two here.

On a related note, does anyone know who I should speak to about securing one of those spaces?

Okay, but like... I both feel like I've just woken up from the longest nap ever and like I need another nap. It's the weirdest damn thing.

I've always loved Christmas, even when I didn't really grasp what it was about. It's difficult not to love something that involves presents and sweets when one is a little boy - or it was for me, at least. My most memorable Christmas was actually rather awful at the time, but it was also the first where I started to look at the season - and myself differently. I haven't been perfect in my life - or even in this year or this week or this day - but Christmas reminds me that there is always light in the darkness.

Dash here, in my new capacity as busboy at the Sadtech Lounge, I am issuing an open challenge to anyone who thinks they can build a better gingerbread house during the event tomorrow. Teams okay, I guess, unless the boss says otherwise.

Beginning today in honor of Giving Tuesday, Sadtech will be holding a holiday toy drive in cooperation with local Youth Centers to provide gifts for children in need for the winter holidays. There are collection boxes in the lobby at the New York Headquarters and at all satellite locations in the New York area. We're also taking volunteers to help load the toys for transport to the Youth Center.

Come, help set up, and then enjoy Taco Tuesday after.

For those of you who weren't here for previous years or don't remember, it's become a tradition for our family to hold our own little Thanksgiving dinner with our family and friends here (all of you). We, like many of you, aren't American, but expressing our gratitude for being here and safe and together needn't be confined to national or world boundaries. I hope very much to see you there.
