Everyone should go and check out the adoption specials today. This is exactly the time of year for getting a new furry friend. It's cold, and the shelters have dogs and cats and other animals that are just longing for a forever home. I got my Emma that way, and she's a sweetheart.

I'm afraid I am a little late for this, but we still have a week to go. For those of you who weren't here for previous years or don't remember, it's become a tradition for our family to hold our own little Thanksgiving dinner with our family and friends here (all of you). We, like many of you, aren't American, but expressing our gratitude for being here and safe and together needn't be confined to national or world boundaries. I hope very much to see you there.

Today is I Love Lucy Day, so let me take a few minutes to tell you about my friend Lucy.

She's freaking adorable and only gets more adorable when you give her coffee. Lucy has this amazing, unique energy that's contagious. You can NOT be in a bad mood when you're around her. She's also one of the kindest people I've ever met. She works too damn hard and too much and really needs to learn the meaning of the word vacation. She's as generous as she is beautiful. She's become one of my very best friends and I do love her...

Of course there should be a holiday all about how awesome she is.
