A Point of Annoyance [Thusrday afternoon, narrative]

It wasn’t the first time Santana had been in the boy’s locker room – not even close – and it definitely wouldn’t be the last. Usually she was going there for fun, but this time she was pissed. Beyond pissed. It wasn’t so much that she felt any love for Kurt, and especially not for Edie, but that didn’t mean she was fine with them getting knocked around. Edie had a black eye and Kurt had almost been killed. That was far from okay.
He was going to leave them alone. She would make sure of it. )

New Girl in Town [narrative]

Edie had enough of unpacking, she'd had enough of a new house that was too darn big for her, she'd had enough of missing her friends. Which was why she was walking down her street, just looking around. It was a hella long drive from Massachusetts to here, and her ass hurt from sitting.

Ugh. Suburbia. )

Well, at least people were friendly here in Lima...

Giving notice [Friday morning, a letter from Maggie to Principal Sylvester]

To: Principal Sue Sylvester
From: Margaret Hale
Date: December 3, 2010
Subject: Resignation

Dear Principal Sylvester,

I am writing to you today to officially tender my resignation from William McKinley High School effective at the end of the Fall 2010 semester.

I have enjoyed getting reacquainted with Lima and McKinley High, but when I received an offer to join the editorial staff of World Traveler magazine, I simply had to take advantage of it.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you and the staff and students of McKinley High for adding to the wonderful memories that I have of this place as a student. It's a rare opportunity for a person to be able to go home again. I wish you all the best of luck.

If you have any questions, please ask. Thanks again for everything.

Show Choir Chat Room [narrative, Friday night]

Lillian was sitting cross-legged on her office chair in front of her computer, in the Ohio show choir chat room, just sitting there and seeing what people were saying about them.

showfan94: omg did you see ND in sectionals? they rocked the house! ttly ready to beat VA--and it's about time.

singingstar28: yeah, va needs to step off. they're done like boy bands.

jsj_cmlhi: You really think they're done?

singingstar28: we're so over va. they're like robots, man. no soul.

showfan94: when was the last time you could feel real emtn from them? srsly.

jsj_cmlhi: what's so great about nd?

Lillian smiled to herself. She knew what was so great about New Directions: they loved to sing. And they cared for each other. And Mr. Schuester cared for them.

singingstar28: they look like they're having fun! And that main girl? Rachel? She's like...she could already be on broadway!

showfan94: The girls are smokin' hot. And the boys actually...look like boys.

jsj_cmlhi: I don't know, the girls and guys are pretty good looking in VA...

singingstar28: ...if you like singing robots. Seriously, no soul, man.

showfan94: really. Can't wait to see ND totally topple VA's reign. They've been on top long enough. Time to see them go down.

jsj_cmlhi: don't be so sure about that. We've been working pretty hard.

showfan94: let me tell you...you'll have to work pretty damn hard. And get the sticks out of everyone's asses.

jsj_cmlhi [has left the room]

singingstar28: ooooh, I think we offended someone...

showfan94: truth hurts.

Lillian grinned. Oh, they had them on the run. This was AWESOME!

[Narrative]

Lillian loved her mother and father. Despite them being the oldest out of all the parents in her peer group, she also thought they were the coolest, as well.

But really, how dumb did they think she was? The doctor's visits, her mother's increasing forgetfulness...and now this.

On a sheet of paper, she wrote:

Look, I know what's going on. Mom has Alzheimer's. Or is going to. Or whatever. I don't know why you guys are hiding it from me, but you're really not doing a very good job. If I didn't know that you were already worried enough, I'd be insulted, really.

So let's stop wasting time and let's talk about this.

Lillian.

On top of the note, she put down the big bottle of Aricept that had been on the kitchen table, and headed off to school.

Life was too short to keep secrets sometimes.

Chastity Ball [narrative]

Quinn was sitting on the front porch, watching the neighbors' daughter go out to the Chastity Ball with her father. Quinn and her dad had gone last year. It was a lovely evening, and Quinn has always been Daddy's little girl. It felt good, to be 'pure' and to have her father's love all to herself for one night. It made her feel special, and valued.

She sighed, watching them, and her father came out to sit down next to her. "Penny for your thoughts, Quinn?"

She nodded towards the limo taking off for the Ball. "I'm sorry we couldn't go this year, Daddy." Even though she knew it was silly, she felt tears pricking her eyes. She wasn't sure why. She just knew that it made her sad that part of her life was gone forever. And so...quickly.

He shrugged. "I only went because it made you happy. And it was nice to dance with my little girl." He brushed hair out of her face. "But I can dance with you any time. And you're just as beautiful without the fancy clothes."

"But..." she said softly, "don't you ever wish...or..." Quinn didn't know if she'd wish herself back. It couldn't be done anyway... "I wish I was better..." Her mouth trembled a little.

She just wished she could remember everything about that night with Puck. Whether he'd said things to her or whether she was any good...whether she'd cried...

"Quinn," her father said firmly, "you are my daughter. And I love you just the way you are, right this moment. And nothing could make me wish you back the way you were before."

He stood up and held his hand out to her. "Now. Let's you and I figure out where we're going to put that nursery."

Now what??? [Narrative]

"Kendra, she said 'Call their lawyer'. THEIR LAWYER! I can't call their lawyer! This means the girl told her parents! What am I going to do, Kendra? If I don't have a baby then..."

"Terri, would you please shut up and stop being so emotional! You don't have to get her parents on your side...you just have to get the girl on your side. She's just broken up with her boyfriend...and stupid chick probably doesn't even know who the real father was. Just make sure you tell her how horrible it is to raise a child on your own, to be alone and not have anyone at all...and now she never will, with a baby to raise..."

Terri was crouched in the bathtub, her eyes wide and scared. "I...I can't do that, Kendra! She knows who I am and what I'm after..."

On the other side of the line, Kendra sighed. "Want me to do it? She doesn't know me from Adam. You'll have to show me what she looks like, though."

Terri sighed in relief. "I can do that. And she's pretty, too. Just the sort you liked to torment in high school."

Kendra chuckled. "Bonus for me, then."
