( No Day, But Today )

Mr. Schuester was busily organizing music. Tina's group performing '21 Guns' was amazing and he thought he should expand it for the entire group. So now he was placing copies of music on everyone's chair.

And he thought that he was getting a little soft with these kids.

They needed a new assignment.

Usually, he had one picked out far before the actual rehearsal...but today, he wasn't quite sure what he'd do.

Well, life was uncertain...

And you never could predict, sometimes, what the best course of action would be.

He'd have to let it come to him.

A long red carpet leads from the parking lot to the lobby of the school gym, decorated for pictures of the happy couples and groups. From there, the carpet leads to the gym, which is decked out in red and black balloons and silver stars.

There's an actual DJ this time near the “bar” where drinks are being served...well, sodas and water. It's high school, what do you want? There's tables scattered about the edges of the dance floor, with red tablecloths and movie-themed centerpieces.

Have fun, kids. Try not to get into too much trouble.

One week down in her punishment, one to go. Eva thought she was going to go insane. The fact that she could only go to school, Glee, and home was driving her up the wall. She'd deal with a sea of protesters if it meant she could go somewhere different. So much for having a car meaning she got freedom.

With a desperate urge to get out and do something, Eva cut out of her study hall, claiming to the monitor that she was going to the library. Instead, she's wandering the halls of the school. She briefly considered just skipping the rest of the day. It was ninth period; who'd really care if she left early? But, as tempting as it was, she elected to stay in McKinley High. Maybe she could find one of the jocks and razz them a little.

Will had to admit, he was feeling pretty down. He was getting divorced, he'd betrayed Emma by kissing the coach for Vocal Adrenaline, and now he and Emma were...well, not together.

And he was alone, for the first time since he was fifteen. He wasn't at all sure how to deal with it. The apartment was so quiet.

But right now, he had to concentrate on getting his Glee club in a good place for Regionals. The kids were working hard but there were a lot of distractions. Quinn was getting huge, the RENT production, and of course, various personal problems with the kids. Being a teenager, after all, was difficult, and there were still slushie facials to contend with...

Suffice it to say, Will was worried about the Glee club's chances. But he'd try his hardest...and the kids were working hard.

He clapped his hands to bring the kids to attention. "Okay! So, it's the last call for practice solos, duets, any sort of talent you want to show us...after today, we'll be working flat out on the pieces for Regionals and polished performances. So...let's have fun before we get to work. Show me what you've got!"

She had wanted a memorable sweet sixteenth birthday. Her driver's test got rescheduled, but that was okay. Eva was determined to make the day amazing regardless. She walked through the day with a smile and a swagger in her step. That morning, she took the effort to style her hair and makeup nicely--and put on a black shirt with the lowercase lambda symbol in pink over the left side of her chest. It was in a spot that she could easily hide with the strap of her messenger bag if a teacher came by. Otherwise, she let it be seen.

A lot of people didn't know what it meant, which she had been banking on. Most students didn't really pay attention to it. Those who did, from what she saw, were either confused or offered encouraging grins. (She assumed there were folks who glared daggers at her back, but she didn't care about them.)

Eva was careful to keep a cup of pop in her hand just in case, however.

Somehow, they'd found out that the kids were having a RENT rehearsal today. And so, they came out en masse, with signs in hand, and a rather poorly-thought up chant that fell apart every so often.

A group of about 20 protesters with signs are picketing the Gentlemen's Club, mostly women and men but some teens, as well. Most notably, the teens from the Chastity Club are there, yelling with as much venom as they could muster.

Which, for supposedly devoted Christians, is quite a bit.

The kids wanted to garner attention...they've got it.

Thank God for study hall. For once this week, Eva didn't have homework to do during it. Thus, ninth period, she got a pass from her study hall supervisor and made her way to the guidance office.

Just out of eyesight of the glass walls, she paused. The girl hesitated a little before bucking up and walking to the door. "Ms. Pillsbury?" she ventured, poking her head in the door. She waved the pass in her hand. "Are you busy?"

The Glee picnic was at noon that day, the old football field cleared for the day as the large grill that had been ordered was pushed into the enter of the white lines, picnic tables set up and a some coolers put out as Tanner made sure things were all in order. He'd gotten all the meat just an hour before, the cooler stinking of it as he turned the grill on and waited for someone, anyone who actually knew what they were doing to show up.

Thank God it was Friday! After a stressful week of classes, Eva was so ready for the weekend. She practically danced down the hallway from her math class en route to her locker. The band was going to check out band night at Murphy's before they committed to performing. In the mean time, she was going to take advantage of the nice weather and go for a run.

Yup. Nothing bad ever happens on days like this...

Will was excited, and he hoped that the rest of the kids would be too.

Once all the kids were seated and paying attention, he said, "Hey guys, we've got a new member. This is Brooke, and she recently transferred here from the Haverbrook School for the Deaf. I hope you'll all make her feel welcome!"

He clapped his hands together and continued, "Now, since we've got a lot of work to catch our newest members up to speed, let's get to work!"

And so the rehearsal began...

Puck's fingers faltered and he hit a discordant note. He sighed and stopped playing.

It had been over a week since he had finally come clean to Finn and they still weren't speaking to each other. Puck wished things could go back to the way things used to be between him and his best friend, but knew it wasn't possible. This wasn't something small like borrowing a bike without asking or eating the last Twinkie. Puck knew he had done something seriously wrong and things could have gone down differently, but that was all in the past now. The only thing he could really do was give Finn the time and space he deserved, and focus instead on Quinn and the baby that was coming.

It was too bad, though, that they had the fight before they could do a duet.

So...she had made it! In retrospect, Eva wasn't sure why she was so worried about her audition. She knew she could sing. She was an okay dancer. Maybe it was a fear of the unknown. She had never tried out for anything before. If she were being honest with herself, she was more worried now than she was before. She had felt the weight of the sheet music when Mr. Schuester handed a music folder to her. She had a lot of music and dance steps to learn.

The thought made her cringe a little bit. And what would the guys say...? Maybe she'd wait till after their show to tell them. Yeah. Good idea.

Since she had a study hall the last period of the day, she went straight to the choir room. Darren was headed to an appointment after school, and he promised to pick her up as soon as he was done. So, essentially, she had a couple hours to kill. Hell, she needed as much time as she could swing. Her knowledge of sheet music was dismal. She understood notes and harmonies, but she was very much an auditory learner. Trying to hammer out the alto part on the piano was hard.

"Ugh," she groaned after messing up again. Eva let her head fall on the piano keys with a thud. "I am screwed."
