Styx didn't understand the big deal about Halloween. Even as a child she'd stared at her parents silently for a long span of time when she'd been dressed. One year she'd been dressed as Wednesday Addams because of how she reacted to Halloween in general. After a while, however, her parents stopped dressing her up and didn't make her go trick-or-treating anymore.

There were enough posts about the upcoming holiday that she found herself wondering as to the appeal. She'd never really asked when she was younger because she hadn't opened up to very many people. Quietly, she spent some time scanning the posts. Persephone was gone on vacation. At least she would be happier somewhere warm. Pyri had been oddly quiet. She would try to talk to him soon.

Her fingers paused briefly over the keys, the questions forming themselves. Another moment passed and she decided against them and shut off the computer. Maybe later she'd ask. Yes, later. She had work to do anyway.

"I have said to you to speak the truth is a painful thing. To be forced to tell lies is much worse." -- Oscar Wilde, De Profundis

Happy National Coming Out Day to those I know who are out and proud! Your courage in living your life openly is a beautiful thing.
