[She'd gotten them good, had struck them down just as they realized how she had managed all this time. They had had barely any time to enjoy the moment, not with the terrifying manner than she had come at them when she had realized what they'd accomplished...

Chiconahuiehecatl had stalled her, taking the full brunt of the blow and buying him enough time to fling the pieces of the puzzle in the air, aiming to send them toward one of the responsible godlings. But before he could bless them to be on their way, he felt a blade slid through his ribs and--
dear god, it twisted. He'd never experienced such pain before until now. And if that wasn't enough, the hits kept on coming until she called off her pets.

In vain hope, Kala turned to where the notes had been released but he couldn't see what had become of them. The malicious laughter of the goddess flooded his ears, her taunts of her generosity in letting him die slowly the last he heard from her. When she and her minions had departed, seemingly unconcerned of what a dying god could do, he went for his phone, knowing
they needed a fighting chance.

Blood smeared over the screen, his vision sorely compromised. The Aztec god wasn't worth sparing a look, he knew that the man was nearly gone. But before that, they was one more thing they had to do.

Well, shit. I suppose this was coming now. It's over for us but let me try to avoid being melodramatic, I have to be quick. You can't come back anymore, when you die you die, there is nothing more for Khaos to get out of you, but we can give you something. Me and Chichi, we got your backs, Godlings.

A little more, we promise to help, so have our final gift: you're going to be stronger against her. Your stamina, your endurance, even those of you with that will see an increase. This might keep you all alive for the final showdown.

Good luck. If not, we'll see you on the vast Nothing.

He didn't know the end result of the plan. All Menelaus could recall was being grabbed and having to fight off that individual. It had then been followed up by by more attacking him, grabbing at him to subdue him until someone got it in their head to plunge a syringe into his arm.

When he next work, someone had changed his clothes, had strapped him down in a dark room. He wasn't alone, he could hear the whispers outside his door and his thoughts fled to the need to get out of there. He'd read about these places, he didn't need an experience to go with it. But try as he might, the leather straps would not give.

A flood of light was accompanied with the door opening and he grew still, teeth clenched and eyes hard. Whatever was going to happen next, he knew he wasn't going to enjoy it but he'd be damned if he let that show.

Somehow, I went from owning my own security firm to selling house alarms door to door. I'm not sure I like this change, although I must say -- housewives seem to be a fan of inviting me in for a cuppa and a chat while their husband is off at work. Suffice to say I haven't been bored.

The change in scenery so suddenly had made Apikunni uncomfortable. As a result, he'd been smoking almost non-stop. He'd also run off to the woods to escape his mother (who had suddenly shown up) talking to him about how he needed to get married and start a family. His brother was in the asylum...which he didn't like. He needed guidance and a plan...and time to sort everything out. He was going to go and get his brother. He would do it even if it meant he had to scalp someone to get him.

He didn't know what else to do. He was chief. He needed to be more calm and do what he knew was right, but he was also a warrior and his urge to fight was taking over. He didn't care who tried to stop him, he would find Beaver, make a plan, and get his brother.

No man would stop him without a serious consequence.

It had been years, so many years, and he'd walked through those doors like it had just been a only a few days. The smile he gave her made her feel sick and weak, furious and helpless. Her hands had shaken beneath the table as he took his place from across her, had so casually lit a cigarette. He told her of all the places he'd been, the work he'd been up to. He told her that she hadn't aged a day since he'd left, still looked like the gorgeous girl he'd married.

She'd remained uncharacteristically silent, drinking in everything he offered. When he made a gesture, she withdrew her hands from their hiding place and had held them out. And he'd held her hand as he told her that despite her looks she wasn't fit to be his wife. He had to move on from this person she'd become. It just wasn't healthy for either of them. Then he offered her the cigarette.

Numbness swelled into shock and finally rage. It'd taken five nurses and two doctors to pull them apart, her fingers coming away sticky with blood, skin and hair. The words she flung at him had all been in her native German, raw and crude, vowing revenge on his worthless self.

The moment she was alone, the tears came. It was less that she couldn't stop them and more that she didn't want to. There was no twin to comfort her, no daughters to dab at her eyes and rub her hands. She would have to get it out and see where her violent outburst would take her now in this damning place.

There was a reason why he'd said nothing to anyone so far. He didn't want it to be too well-known he was here. He didn't want someone to try to save him from something that could really hurt them.

At that moment, he was stuck in a solitary room after having gotten into a fight with a doctor who had frightened him. There was blood still under his nails, bruises staining his arms and face but a small sense of victory lay in that he knew he wasn't broken.

He wasn't human, he'd never be human. He wasn't wrong and no amount of therapy, pills or other treatments would make him think otherwise. But he wouldn't go mad here. The creature he could conjure up would keep him sane, a reminder that he was right against them all. Against anyone who might suggest otherwise or try to brainwash him.

[ Being a nurse wasn't a terrible profession for a woman. In fact, it was very normal. But being a nurse in a mental hospital was something else entirely. She had thought she knew all there was to know about patients who refused treatment or medication. Apparently, she hadn't. Patients here were so uncooperative unless they were sedated, and only then would they take the medication she handed to them in little cups.

But watching these patients having to swallow their pills in front of her, to show them the underside of their tongue so that they couldn't hide their medication-- it left her heart surging. It pained her to be here, but she knew, above all, that this was her job. There was no other alternative.

More than once, she had nearly taken out their eyes with her scalpel, but somehow, somehow, she kept from doing so, lest someone cart her away to that mental asylum she was hearing about. A toy fell from his son's hand with a clatter loud enough to stir him from his musings for the moment. He looked down to see the boy now occupied with Fiona, who had become rather tolerate of his son. A hand mildly ran over Nikolaas' head as the child sat, occupied with putting his hands all over the soft cat. His affection even toward his siblings (excluding Hypnos, Hypnos was always an exception) had been limited and to his child it couldn't be any different. Ma'at would make up for it (she was softer in her own way, better at all this).

It lasted barely a few seconds. Restraining himself from behaving like a man dying from thirst, he waited it out, watched for his moment before sliding his hands around the young man's bared neck. I didn't kill anyone. I'm framed for a crime that I did not do. I am, this time, as innocent as ... as our son can be. I just wanted you to know.

I'm a little disappointed that fake me is going to get to be Belle for Halloween while I'm stuck here. Although it's not so bad. I teach kids here and they're really cute. I miss science, but teaching isn't so bad.

I hope fake me is taking good notes in physics class.

Hey, did anyone see that sporting event that took place last night? It was a really good game, very tense and athletic. Those players were going all out, boy was it a sight to see. I'm just glad the team I like won, otherwise I might have had to start throwing punches in the bar where I was enjoying some brewskis with the boys.

So, who's up for some drinks later, ladies?

Am I acting hetero enough? I know what they do to guys like me in this day and age, I've been watching the latest season of American Horror Story.

It was karma that he would end up like this. If Isolde of Breton had killed herself over what he had done to her, he liked to believe that it could have pierced through the haze the potion created over him. Such a terrible thing, though, for something like that to work on him but that is what had apparently happened now. He'd seen the photos of his late wife and everything about her screamed 'Isolde'. Not the blonde beauty from Ireland but his wife from so long ago.

Tristan knew that if he had been himself, he could have tried to love her. He knew that she should have been the only woman for him, not the woman meant for his uncle. Not a girl that he had been forced to love but a woman he chose for himself. Some part of him had been affected by the tale created here, had cracked open in him what he tried to keep sealed up. A real depression was pulling him under and though he disapproved of everything happening, would not allow himself killed by these so-called people, he couldn't help but think something like this was meant to happen.

He wanted to see her, still. Wanted to take a hold of her and plead on his knees for a chance to redeem himself. Only her forgiveness meant anything. For that, he would do what he had to live.

[ It had been a long time since Uriel had been legitimately overwhelmed with something. Often his calm outlook on life won out, allowing him to face all manners of situations with a clear head: Rome, Zurvan. He could distance himself from them, believe that all of what was happening was part of a greater plan. All obstacles could be surpassed, and he had thus lived through those.

But a mental asylum was not the same. It was something too real, something that hit far too close to home, that the longer he remained in that bare room, the more his chest ached. Lucia was in a place like this. She, too, was kept away, though not against her will, for her own safety. For the first time, he wondered: was this how she felt, trapped, confined? How lonely did she get, if at all? Upon his visits, she never spoke of emotions, only experiences. How she missed him, thought of him. Now, months too late, he wished he'd asked.

Never would he question God's plans, but sitting upon the floor, back pressed into the wall and notebook balanced on his lap, he silently prayed. For answers, for a why to explain how he, he who was loyal and faithful, was being forced to endure this of all things. It was too personal. Too painful. His heart, heavy in his chest, felt ready to implode on itself.

He closed his eyes, exhaling sharply.

Father, give me the strength of heart to see this through. ]

[She had woken and found her wardrobe changed. Not a big deal but enough to make her cautious. She's ventured out after changing into something bright orange with pearls (she loved throwing off others). But when she made a move to go out, she was asked "to where?". It gave her pause as she eyed her driver that she had known for a long driver before she told him exactly where: to the den.

Instead of agreeing, he laughed and told her that her father would kill him if he let the man's "little girl anywhere near that place". Never one to let her anger show or even be her first choice in emotional response, she asked when this had started.

Apparently it always had been in place. Knowing it was more logical to figure out things that force the issue, she retreated to one of the rooms after finding her journal to speak with those on the community.

I don't even know where to begin except I know the clothes do not make up for the troubles this place causes.

I'm not sure if I should be embarrassed or insulted, but one of the guys visiting the office today for an appointment smacked my ass and called me 'sweetheart'. Then he blew cigarette smoke in my face and laughed. It took all my willpower to just bite my tongue and smile, but considering the looks I got playing catch with Reed earlier and my inability to find any jeans in my wardrobe I knew better.

The only good thing I've discovered about this so far is that I look amazeballs in this clothing. I've always been a fan of dressing like a girly-girl when I'm out and about, so I could get used to this. The nicknames and the misogyny... not so much.

In case anyone is hungry and wants to come hang out, I'm making pot roast for dinner tonight.

As far as she knew then, her mortal and reincarnated children were well, none of her family were locked up and she wasn't in the worst position in the world. But it was her birthday, the first one without her husband. The last one, they had been in a hotel but they had come home and she had belatedly celebrated it. That wouldn't happen now.

For roughly fourteen years, she'd been with him, had gone through highs and lows. She thought she had had a handle on her pain, on being able to move forward. And maybe she had been doing better. But right there, in her living room (but not really), she could only think about what he would have planned for her, how he would had teased her, kissed her brow.

Losing people, having them wrenched away from, having no control over what happened was not something Angrboda would ever be able to manage
well.

From another room, the twins would hear things of value shattering against the wall. They knew better than to check on her right then.

For the record, I look amazing as always. And this era isn't so bad - if you're a man. A man not stuck in the asylum, that is. Though, who knows what power balance lies in there.

Fuck this.

[She leaves her journal open for a while, pen resting on top of it. She's tired of this whole stupid cycle. Worse, she feels helpless and trapped, and that just makes her angrier. There isn't a thing that she can do about any of this.

She reaches for the journal with the brilliant idea of throwing it at the wall, but pauses. Maybe not such a good idea. The last thing she needs is for someone to take the journal away.]

So here's a philosophical question for all of you: what makes this life any less real than the life we think we were living in New York in 2012? Maybe this is real life. Maybe we're all just crazy.

I'm open to other theories.
