[Every penstroke of the letter pained her physically. Somehow, Hebe held in tears for as long as possible, but a few tears escaped toward the end, splattering on the paper. Pondering if it was best to burn it and rewrite it, she worried her lip to the point that it bled. She felt like the worst person in the world, just the worst. Was someone's love really worth abandoning her family, if only for a little while, to be happy?

You're so selfish she chided herself angrily, pausing with the letter before a lit candle. But rather than burning it, Hebe set to folding it up in a nice envelope. The letter would find itself on the kitchen table later on, but before venturing downstairs, she snuck as quietly as possible into her brother's room to kiss them goodbye. Neither stirred, thankfully, and so on quiet feet, she left. With the kitten stowed away in her handbag, she bid her house farewell and disappeared into the night for Raven's house.

The letter reads as follows: )

I'm so so so so sorry

I'll be there in fifteen minutes.

I'm making a horrible mistake, but I need you to tell me it'll be okay.

I have been approached by a young woman whose identity I don't wish to reveal right now. But what she has told me is a matter I wish to publish immediately. That our borders have been crossed, that our people are being slaughtered by Niflheimian forces on order of their Marshal. Innocent people who have had nothing to do with their war, defenseless people whose only crime was that the saw someone who shouldn't have been on our land.

This woman was very brave and strong. She's also pregnant right now and had a small child with her when she was found by a soldier who aided her. That man saved her life and that of her children and was, from what I have gathered from her, a Camelotian. He is a hero to us even if he is part of the army of Niflheim, going as far as to guide her out of the area a small way.

We need to find out what happened to him. We need to protect him if he has been caught. I say we even as a humble businessman because I'm as Camelotian as you. The people must rise, must shout and must be heard. The Niflheimian army will not get away with these war crimes and they will not be able to hide or kill the man named Cù Sìth if everyone knows about this. Otherwise, they risk turning him into a martyr, only for others to rise more strongly for the beliefs he died for.

I want to be able to work with you in releasing this information to the public but I ask of you to come to a decision soon. Our people are dying as we speak. This cannot be allowed. The people must know now.

[There was only one way to handle finding Hebe's note. Even as he rushed around, checking the house for his missing daughter, he knew it was futile. After his chat with Raven, he knew exactly what all this meant.

Goddamn him for not having kept an eye on the two more. Goddamn him for thinking he'd gotten through to the boy. Goddamn him for not having put Hebe in the attic where the boards creaked and he'd know if she was escaping.

...ok, maybe that was a little weird.

Would anyone care to explain what, exactly, we plan on doing about this?

I'm certain I don't have to spell out for any of you how it will look if the newspaper publishes anything on this before we have a plan fully in place, but might I suggest we blame this on our Queen? You all know as well as I do that were she not in charge we wouldn't be in this position, and our citizens are smart enough to know if we attempt to pull the wool over their eyes. Your thoughts?

Sister, darling, twin -- how much did you know about this situation, and why did you choose not to bring it to my attention sooner?

Well, if this isn't a potential nightmare in the making then I don't know what is.
