Well, I've had myself a fine time visiting another country for the first time through the door, but back home today it would be St Andrew's Day, which comes with much folklore of it's own, but mostly it is a time of celebration marking the beginning of the season of Scottish winter festivals... well, man, it's very dark and cold for most of the season, with the sleet and the ice and nothing to be done with the land. It's a right rough time for us, so we make sure and bring the community together with dances and music and storytelling to lift spirits and that-
So, aye, we are all spread into different places, and the island is right rough going as it is now. But I have been blessed to meet so many new people here, discover things I never would have been able to experience. Right enough, I owe my life to the place- I know we may have our differences, it's only natural enough, we come from so many different times and places and worlds, we are shaped by different experiences and beliefs. But I think we could all take a lesson from Kinraddie, and remember to look out for one another, to keep a sense of community alive, and remember that no matter when and where you come from, you have a place here. And there is a song that tells of the revolutionary idea that one man is as good as another, and all that.
[Rob begins to play guitar and sing, very simple, acoustic and gentle. 'A Man's a Man For All That.'
