LJ Automatically Removes Videos Marked "Explicit Adult Content"
I am not sure if this issue was discussed here before, you are welcome to delete this post if it was.
I am on IJ now (going permanent soon) but keep a basic LJ account to keep in touch with friends. Today I decided to post imbedded video in one of my entries. That video was a joke and had some naked Barbie Dolls having sex as explicit content *cough, cough*. OK, I know that I am immature!
My journal is set to Adult Concepts because, frankly, I don't see why anyone under 14 would want to read my entries nor would I want them to. But I digress. I posted that "Barbie Porn" video in a f-locked post. And then I decided to use "Explicit Adult Content" setting for the first time. Just being a responsible adult and censoring my own entry.
LJ automatically removed a video in the entry marked "Explicit Adult Content"!!!
All I had left on my Recent Entries page was written staff.
So, I deleted the entry altogether.
Perhaps everybody already knows about this, but to me it was a total shock. My entry was never public, going from "private" to "friendslocked". But video content got removed as soon as marked "Explicit". And it's quite possible that the fact of auto-removal of "adult" video from my journal is tallied somewhere in my account stats.
The very first use of Explicit self-censoring was a huge disappointment and I am not inclined to repeat this experience.
I used to think that it was a useful tool, a convenience, but the way it's implemented - no.

Also, embedded video content will not necessarily link to the correct video on f-lists. You have to hide the content behind a cut to ensure that your readers will actually see the correct video.
Both issues are related to how the embedding is implemented. Bottom line, it's broken.

Thanks for the info, I am going to pass it along.

I reported the f-list issue to LJ support, and got told "You already know the fix" and that I should just put the videos behind a cut. I finally made IJ my primary journal site when I considered the probability that Russian ownership would improve things like support, etc.

One can only wonder why LJ put all those man hours to create so hated flagging, instead of fixing this pretty important problem.

Chances are this user simply cut the URL out him/herself unawares and rather than re-edit to check his links and HTML, he/she went posting here instead about OMGNOWLJCENOSORSVIDSWTF.
Mind you I left LJ myself over censorship and SUP and never liked or enjoyed LJ that much in the first place, so don't think my opinion is at all slanted in their favor. But I know bullshit when I see it.

I used a round "embed" symbol in Rich Text editor to imbed that video. I suppose that HTML cleaner got rid of it during saving the entry after changing the post setting to "explicit"

My problem with the OP is, you should have established this was not a censorship issue before you wrote about it. You could have started a lot of trouble, all for nothing, all because you use rich text and inserted the wrong character.
I never use the rich text editor, so that must be why I never have a problem.
*But* the actual video embed problem documented on LJ doesn't even involve using the rich text editor, so as it turns out, this problem was completely your own fault.
It's perfectly alright to not know enough HTML to write it yourself, but it is NOT alright to not double check your work in the rich text editor before publshing it, *especially* if you're going to just go on a misleading rant about LJ as a result. There is nothing I hate more than a story that not only just isn't true, but that came about from your own careless actions.
Again...doble-check the facts before you write *anything*, OK? You are a danger to The Truth as we all know it. A tendency to blame anything and anyone besides yourself does not lend you much credibility.
