It was a rare feeling to feel such exhaustion as he always found a way to collect during the day but the day had not been good and he hadn't been entirely attentive to how much he had been taking last week. Due to that neglect, it wasn't just tiredness but he felt his limbs ache, saw his skin had gone paler. The rich browns and reds of his hair had suffered and he saw a few strands of silver among them.

He resisted the urge to tear them out (not pluck, it wasn't a delicate feeling). He always selected patients who just came in to complain about something and, knowing fully well there was nothing wrong with them, he would give them a real reason to complain. But the day had seen truly sick individuals, some even canceling. With the rain, people didn't linger long and he couldn't find a way to snatch anything on his way home either.

Do you ever have those days where you feel like you've forgotten something, but you know that you've remembered every little thing? Something is just off about today.

A part of me thinks I should have stayed in bed this morning.

Perhaps it's just my shoes. I ran out with one black and one brown today, and I didn't notice until lunch. Either other people haven't noticed, or they've been too polite to say something. I'm guessing it's a mix of both.
