This week's prompt is #61 - Mistaken Identity

Have you ever had one of those awkward moments?  You see someone that you think you know, go up to them to say hello and then they turn around....eh, not who you thought they were huh? This week is all about mistaken identity!

Has Kougaiji beat up an innocent bystander thinking that he was Sanzo?  In the right light and from behind, could Gojyo be mistaken for a red haired woman?  Would Goku ever be mistaken for someone else?  Is Sanzo groping around in the dark looking for a lighter and comes up with something else?  What about youkai magic and Sanzo-ikkou clones running amok - which Sanzo is real? 

Whether person, place or thing, identify it wrong in just 100 words.

Hakkai managed to sneak off with the trophy this week with 10 points for the Sanzo-ikkou!  The Homura-tcachi and the Kou-tachi have nothing to say on the matter.

This week's prompt is #60 - Hidden Talent

Now is the time to show us all those talents that none of the characters want anyone to know about.

Does Sanzo dance?  Can Goku juggle?  Can Gojyo tie cherry stems into a knot with his tongue? Does Kougaiji sing?  Is Zenon good at giving advice?  Does Hazel paint?  Does Ni sew plush toys?  We all know that Hakkai has a talent for holding his liquor, how does Sanzo feel about that?

No matter the talent, make it public in just 100 words.

The Sanzo-ikkou decided to live life to the fullest last week and that meant winning the trophy.  You can't expect them not to live competitively!  They earned 10 points last week!!

This week's prompt is #59 - First Person Narration

Pick a character, any character and let them talk to us.  Let them tell us their thoughts on their teammates, their struggles with the world, their loves and hates.  What would Gojyo tell us about his mother?  Can Sanzo even speak of his master?  Would Hakkai tell us that Goku has smelly feet?

Let the characters do the talking this week, but only using 100 words.

“Wh…whose idea was it to go up the mountains?”

Sanzo huddled closer to Gojyo, squeezing him so he wouldn’t be able to talk.

Goku huddled against the both of them, holding Hakuryu against his chest.

Hakkai kneeled nearby, struggling to light a fire with his shaking hands. Every time he got a flame from the lighter it would get blown out by the wind.

After a dozen failed attempts he was ready to die in the snow.

Gojyo wrapped his arms around him, with Sanzo and Goku flanking him.

With renewed warmth he managed to get a steady fire going.

This week's prompt is #58 - Choose Life

Sometimes the question of live or die happens upon the characters of Saiyuki - probably more often then they would wish it did. Do I save a friend or save myself? How do I live when so many I cherish are gone?

No matter who you write about (Hakkai, Gojyo, Sanzo, Kougaiji, etc.), have them choose to live in only 100 words.

When it comes to opening dialogue, the Sanzo-ikkou started some conversations and came out on top for 20 points.  The Kou-tachi would rather not talk about it and the Homura-tachi feels like they don't have to talk about it.  *throws confetti for the Sanzo-ikkou!*

This week's prompt is #57 - Sha Gojyo

Yes, it is Gojyo week.  All drabbles must contain or make reference to the chain smoking kappa!

Has Gojyo's womanizing finally gotten out of control?  What goes on inside a kappa's head when he is traveling in a jeep across the desert with three other guys?  How does he feel about Hakkai, Sanzo and the monkey?  Is he a card shark?

Let's see Gojyo eating, smoking, fighting, womanizing, sleeping, hanging around - but only in 100 words.

Well, two teams seem to be warming themselves by the fire this week.  That's right, we have a tie!  With 20 points each, I guess the Sanzo-ikkou and the Kou-tachi will have to share the trophy.  That is, if the Kou-tachi can catch Sanzo - they really haven't had any luck with that Sutra, maybe the trophy will be easier.

This week's prompt is #56 - Dialogue Only

"Dialogue only?"

"Yes, dialogue only?"

"Wow! But um, I don't know if I can do that."

"Sure you can!  People do it all the time. Characters have things to say without all the other narration.  Think about how you talk with friends.  No one is there narrating your behavior, so just leave that out and you will do fine!"

"Since you put it that way, it doesn't sound so bad."

"It's not, really.  Have fun with it!  But remember, you must write it in just 100 words."

Title: Marshmallows Around the Fire
Characters : Goku, Sanzo, Gojyo, Hakkai
Challenge: Fire

Goku reached into the bag of marshmallows and happily popped several into his mouth. “Shtuf ish gwate!”

“Don’t talk with your mouth full,” Sanzo muttered.

Gojyo asked, “You ever roast your marshmallows?”

“Roast them?”

Hakkai sat beside Gojyo and demonstrated, carefully turning the marshmallow over the fire, getting the outside toasted just right. He offered it to Goku with a smile.

Goku ate it and leapt up after he swallowed. “It’s gooey in the center! Let me try!!” He grabbed the stick and yelped as his marshmallow lit on fire.

“That’s the best kind,” Gojyo said, blowing it out.

“YUM!!!”

Poor Hakkai!  He seemed to do all the work to earn the Sanzo-ikkou's points last week!  The good news is that the trophy gets to sit on Jeep's dashboard for another week with that 10 points!  When the Kou-tachi and the Homura-tachi got a look at what the Merciful Goddess did to Hakkai they hid in the hills!  Can you blame them...really?

This week's prompt is #55 - Fire

Fire.  It burns, it smolders, it crackles, it glows.  It can be essential for cooking, giving warmth to a cold soul or used to kill.  It can sometimes be defined as a form of passion or enthusiasm - like a fire in your gut (but then, that could be just indigestion). Arsonists use it to get a cheap thrill, firemen try to put it out, glassblowers use it as part of the creation process.

The Sanzo-ikkou has a knack for winning the trophy!  It's gracing the dashboard of Jeep for 20 points.  I think the other teams think that our trophy is tacky.  ^_~;;

This week's prompt is #54 - Character's Children

Flash forward into the future and give us a glimpse of the children spawned by our favorite characters.

Does Hakkai have a son that hates to read?  Does Gojyo''s children run all over him?  Do Kougaiji's children make their grandmother proud? Has Ni's daughter won first place in the science fair? How would Goku be with kids??  What about Zenon or Homura?

Ah yes, show us the joys of having children (along with the tantrums, the messes, the diapers...) in just 100 words.

Due to a lot of chaos and disorder in my life this week, I am extending last week's prompt to this week as well.

In honor of of this asylum's one year anniversary, we are having a prompt free-for-all!

Maybe there was a prompt for which you didn't get a chance to write, or maybe you feel that there was one in which you could have written more, or maybe you just have a favorite prompt you just want to see again.  This week, go crazy!!

Only one rule this time - please place the prompt you are revisiting in your author's notes.  This will help me with  tagging and memories.  Also, team competition is still on this week (they don't get the week off just because we are throwing an anniversary party), so be sure to give your teams some love.
