Text Messages

Here is the post to make text messages in posts.

To make Alan's one-sided message I just cut the code up and used it like I've posted below. You can copy and paste the message section as many times as you like, just make sure it goes above the /div /lj-raw bit.

For replying in comments, this is the code I butchered from it to make it work right:

Icons

Sen asked about where to find icons these days so I'm posting a link to ones that are still really active:

http://narcissa.insanejournal.com/
http://maxicons.insanejournal.com/
http://beticons.insanejournal.com/
http://asylums.insanejournal.com/blevcons/
http://rodens.insanejournal.com/
http://asylums.insanejournal.com/winetime/
http://turtleduck.insanejournal.com/
http://buckybear.insanejournal.com/
http://lulamae.insanejournal.com/
https://braelyn.dreamwidth.org/
http://asylums.insanejournal.com/empireants/

and, obvs, my own: http://asylums.insanejournal.com/burlesque_show/

(Not posting these to facebook messenger because I don't want to spam it. I always have group chats completely muted on there because I hate the constant dinging on my phone, and then it's a pain to go find in the little window where the last messages I read were so... if someone needs to talk to me, I probably won't check there.)

ALSO

I finally got fed up with comments collapsing so I searched for a thread unfolder and found this tutorial.

http://sherlock.insanejournal.com/14135.html

It's got scripts for Chrome and Firefox. I only installed the FF one so if you have questions about it, let me know and I can help! It worked and I love being able to unfold comments instead of always clicking to a new page omg.

HEY GUYS!

A few updates! Well. One. I have dropped Henry VIII because I'm sick of playing him! A few more might be coming, but we'll see!

And now I have some links for you. There's a list of the best add-ons over on [info]rp_tutorials and they make roleplay SO much easier. For instance on Firefox I use LJ Hook, save images, LJ Login, Lazarus (it is AMAZING), Clipple-Paste and Clippings. They have made my life SO much easier!

The list is here and if you haven't seen it, I would suggest you check it out! The pics on it no longer work, but the links still do :D

Feel like plotting with my bbs? Cast List

Hey, guys!

Just to give you all another option for backing up your character journals since IJ likes to go down all the time, there is a program called lj-archive and they've finally updated it so it works with IJ AND LJ.

You can download it here: http://www.dehavelle.com/2012/03/lj-archive-fixed/ down where it says 'here's the new installer'.

Then once it is downloaded and installed, you choose File, and then New Archive and you can fill in everything and it will download it to your computer (be sure to change the site you are downloading from to insanejournal instead of livejournal). Then you can update it yourself every once in awhile. It synchs when you open the archives automatically so any new entries and comments will be automatically saved.

I am backing up the communities as well, in case Dreamwidth doesn't get the issue with importing comments fixed. In the event that IJ goes down for good, I can then give everyone a digital copy of the communities. But they will only be viewable if you have lj-archive installed since they say in a specific file type.

It's really easy to use though, and I love it. I've been using it for years and it's really great to know I have copies of everyone on my computer, just in case.

IF you guys install it and need help using it, feel free to email or comment to me and I can help, complete with screencaps if necessary ;)

EDIT: If backing up multiple characters, be sure to name the archives different things! I forgot to mention that!

Hello, lovelies!

I know some of you make have noticed the new IJ ads at the bottom of the screen. That black bar thing which looks slightly worrying and is quite annoying.

Well I found a way to block it and I thought I would share in case you wanted to as well. I have the Firefox add-on Ad Block Pro, and I just downloaded http://adblockplus.org/en/elemhidehelper this add-on for it.

Once you install the Firefox add-on (I think you can do it in Chrome too) you can right-click on the black ad when it comes up. Click 'Inspect Element' and then 'Block with Ad-block'. THEN you make sure you have 'Insanejournal.com' selected and it should hide it for you!
