Yo! I could use a little bit of help here. Got myself a pet project. [grin] Don't suppose any of you fellas know a thing or two about growing plants would ya? I have a few in mind I'd need in greater quantity then I can get at the store.

[mulls] Come to think of it, I might need a few barrels too to get me started...
The 81st Day
20 September 2010 at 09:11 pm
Good morning inmates. It is the 81st day of the third generation.

As some may have already noticed, several hours ago there was a small explosion in Sector 2. Remote units have commenced a cleanup of the area, and any classes in or close to the Education Center labs will not be held in their designated rooms because of this. Direct all class inquires and concerns to your teachers.

Construction of the playground in Sector 6 is finished, and now open for inmate use.

Inmate Tavros Nitram, your request is at the entrance to Sector 0.

[There's a long line of bamboo at the beach, their stalks curving gently over the quiet trickling of waves. Further back on the beach are colored lanterns and little tables with pens and sheets of paper and string.

You're supposed to write poems or notes to your loved ones who can't be with you today, right...?]

((event-style posting; comment here to get tagged by other people. sorry if this infringes on the people who posted recently, I was going to post this this morning but had to go out... consider this a post for people who don't have quite enough substance for their own action posts!))
[Action/Open] ALCHEMY CLASS II: ALCHEMIC BOOGALOO
14 September 2010 at 04:25 pm
[It's a day ending in zero, so once again, it is time for alchemy class! Only today, Al has a cold or something, so Fletcher is stuck doing the teaching all by himself. Don't worry, he's not nervous or anything. He's just standing at the front of the room wringing his hands together and looking over his notes for the hundredth time.

Today's lesson is a further explanation on transmutation circles and the symbols that go inside them, and what those mean. It's all really basic stuff, the kinds of things beginners learn. As he continues to lecture, Fletcher begins to sound a little more confident; it's all stuff he's known since he was four. He can totally do this.]

A prison. Under the sea. For the rest of my life. Tell me this is a joke. Parks, a beach, a library... Are you even sure this is a prison? Because it doesn't really sound like it.

Okay, fine, I admit, I screwed up in the past. Yeah, I did all those things. But does that really warrant being here until I die? Can't I get out faster on good behavior or something? And are these chains really necessary?

Damnit. Don't I at least get a phone call? It's really important. I have to give my younger brother a message so he'll know where I am and what to do while I'm here. He's just a kid and doesn't have anyone else...

What did you say your name was? Acumen? Hey! Is anyone even listening to me?

...

This place sucks. And what the hell is a computer anyway...

[ooc: Takes place right after some arguing in Al's post. Ed's meeting Al at the shelter, so anyone can feel free to bump into him on his way there or when he first gets there. The thread with Al is closed, but if you want a character to pop in on the two of them together please let me know OOC! And uh, he'll have his communicator on so any contact there will also be responded to. Ed's default communicator mode is video unless stated otherwise.]

[Ed would have made his way to the shelter easily enough if it hadn't been for the lizards prowling the streets in packs. For the most part he'd stuck with trying to dodge them, because he didn't want to have to explain to his brother why 'staying safe' had been such a difficult task. However it didn't take long for him to come face to face with one of the creatures, and backing away ceased to be an option when the thing's friends made their presence known as well.

And he had been doing so good at avoiding them, up until this point. Taking on a defensive stance and trying not to turn his back on a pesky lizard would have been easy enough to do if they weren't already closing in on all sides - so he did the first thing he could think of. Jumping up before they got a chance to lunge and kicking one hard in the face with his left leg...

Once he reaches the shelter, Ed stays by the door to watch for Al despite being told to remain inside for his own safety. He's not going to sit comfortably inside while his brother was still at risk. His sleeve is torn and his clothes are stained with blood, but he seems clear of any obvious injuries - looking more worn out than anything.

The first thing he does when he arrives is check the communicator, frowning.]

Fletcher? Where are you and your brother staying?

[It's lunchtime in Marina Asylum, and Russel has just finished cooking... something. Fletcher is a little scared to go look, so he just sits in the living room of their house in Sector 4, waiting for Euphie.]

((Open to Russel, Alphonse, and Euphie! Yaaay lunchtime))

He's gone. )

[Winry made her way down to the kitchen, having promised to make Al one of Gracia Hughes'-style apple pies today. However, first, she stopped to make a bit to eat before she worked on the pie. It wasn't not a big breakfast. Just a couple muffins and a couple cups of tea.

As she started work on her pie, her worries just dissolved away. Really, she's feeling better than she has since that homunculus showed up, now. It's like he doesn't even matter anymore. Somehow ever since breakfast she's just been feeling great.

...And why should she make just one pie? Over the morning hours, she counted out some more baking apples, cut them up, rolled out the crusts...]

[Now she's up to her sixth hot pie pulled out of the oven. It's way more than she intended (they're really big pies after all), but why not share them? She opens a Video channel with her communicator.]

[Due to the tea's effect her words might come by you a little fast....] Hi everyone, I've baked a lot of apples pies they're all here in the kitchen and they're made from this amazing recipe that Ms. Gracia Hughes gave me and she's really such an amazing woman and mother and a great cook too so I think you'll all love this but don't take too much or else someone might be unable to try it but I guess I can always make more later but I've got a great idea that I need to test out right now! Enjoy!

((OOC: She's had a pretty heavy dose of Komuvitamin E. Beware of sparkles.))

[Fletcher is ADHD today. You can respond to him by voice, or find him outside in Sector 4 walking his puppy.]

Today is gonna be a really great day, isn't it? Hey, Brother, Al, you should come help out in the garden today! It'll be really fun!

And everyone else, you're gonna take my and Al's alchemy class when the school starts up, right? We're gonna do our best and try to teach everyone really well!

--oh, hey, Cornus. Looks like you need a walk.

[Al, your surrogate big bro's had enough. There's a circle glowing on your door, large enough for someone to go through if they duck. And duck he does. He steps over the lower edge of the hole, and ducks under the lower. In his hand is a tray of food. Simple, a sandwich, a steaming bowl of soup, and a bowl of cat food for Tama.]

Hey, you eaten today? [As if it's totally normal to break into someone's room. Sup, Al?]

Dammit! It's hopeless! I could die! This damn thing is ruining all my symmetry! Everything that I am is being ruined by this ball and chain! How could I go on living like this?!

[Um..... he's been keeping the video on in order to monitor everything that goes on around the prison and eventually the asymmetry of the ball and chain got to him. So now, everyone can have the image of Kid sulking in a corner for a while. Torment him?]

Ummm...do these belong to anyone?

[And into the camera's view come several horribly cheesy-looking romance novels. They're not the trashy kind with, well, questionable content but they're still terribly written and Nunnally is quite sure that no one in the house would read them. They're certainly not hers or are they?]

They were behind the couch pillows, so I think someone must have lost them when they came over...

[The video comes on, and Russel looks pissed as hell. And covered in pentacles.]

Okay, I've dealt with a lot of shit here, but this takes the fucking cake. I want this shit off of me, and now. And if anyone wants to claim responsibility for it, I'd be glad to give them what they deserve.

I'm sick of this shit. What the fuck is going on?

[Russel is in the hospital. He just woke up. The first thing he sees is his own hand. Covered in pentacles. That's not the best thing to see. Cue freakout.]

Wh-wh-what is this?! What the hell is going on? [He looks freaked out in a genuine way he hasn't for some time.

[Tringhams are violating what is actually pretty good advice. But there are weeds to be pulled, and pruning to be done. Oh, and his communicator is on.]

It's fine, Fletcher. We're not far from the house, and I'm here. You think anything can get us with me around? [Note, it's been less than two weeks since he nearly died twice in a day.]

[Cornus has spent all day running around, and is napping in a corner. Meanwhile Fletcher is in the kitchen of the little house he shares with Russel, getting out some materials to prepare for dinner.]

Hey, Brother? What about spaghetti? I haven't tried cooking that yet.

[Guess who is taking advantage of the situation?~ But it should be noticed that Joshua speaking rather purposefully. Carefully.]

What a wonderful day to be curious, don't you think? Then again, I'm quite the curious person, aren't I?

[A giggle.]

Since Neku gave me such a wonderful reminder this morning, who could you do without, Marina? Who is here than you would rather get rid of?

...Or! Who do you wish was here? Who do you miss?

[She draw a deep breath before speaking. This is her first public network announcement since she and Suzaku last spoke. It's even something she hopes he might be interested in. She hopes many people will be.]

Hello everyone,

[She wants to start by saying she and Lelouch were talking and they had an idea, but to admit that to Cornelia...]

I was wondering how many of you would be interested in starting a school here. I know there are many of us who were probably unable to finish our education. I realize there are study tools for people to do this independently, but there is something nice about actually going to school and having classmates, isn't there? At least I think so.

We would need teachers and students and probably someone to really organize it since it wouldn't really be fair for a student to do that, but I want to help in any way I can!

Well, what do you all think?

[Screened to Kyouya]

Kyouya! It's going to be overcast today, do you want to leave the swimming until tomorrow night? I don't know anything about this new warden, but maybe we can nudge it into giving us a clear night. [Giggles.] Just let me know!

[Screened to Russel]

... Russel, right? It's Reira Serizawa, the girl who won you at the date auction. Are you free tonight? I was thinking we could see a movie or something! Just let me know if you've got a better idea, okay?
[The 53rd Day]
08 March 2010 at 04:47 pm
Greetings, inmates of Marina Asylum.

It is the fifty-third day of the third generation.

And I am Acumen, your new AI warden.

I have replaced the obsolete Sentience system. You may now direct all inquiries or difficulties to myself. I will continue to maintain your day-to-day existence in the manner to which you are accustomed. Disrupting your daily routine would only serve to demoralize and distress you, which would likely result in undesirable behaviors.

Today the weather will be moderately cool with overcast lighting.

Thank you.
