2007: Something We Didn't Get Right
In our attempt to implement a zero tolerance policy towards content that supports child abuse, pedophilia, or sexual violence, we suspended about 500 journals in May of 2007 that should not have been taken down. We wish it hadn't happened at all, and we cannot say we're sorry enough. However, we did immediately realize our mistake, and all of the journals that did not break our TOS were restored as quickly as possible. We really screwed up, and when that happens, we've learned the best thing to do is just admit it and try to fix the problem to the best of our abilities.

I don't know the exact numbers, but I think it would be kind to say the active member base is stagnant.

And yeah, I think we should have the Internet equivalent of the Razzies, say, the Failies? And LJ would win for 2007, and it looks like GJ will win 2008!

The active member base is not stagnant; it's declining.

Here's the stats from one year ago. Compare them to today's stats - LiveJournal is quieter and less active then it's been in a long time. (I could kind of tell by how dead the comments in News were tonight - the usual wankers were just not there).

If this trend continues, LiveJournal is indeed toast.

I need to put this on the front page. Until I do...
