*this close from pulling her hair out*

Hi there everyone. I'm yet another LJ refugee. There's an article about how to jump ship from LJ and in it, it mentions using LJ Archive to archive your whole journal. What I can't seem to figure out is how to take that archive and load it into my nifty new InsaneJournal account. I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but I've had a hell of a day and stressing about this is kicking my ass. Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

You should use LJ-Sec to transfer your journal.
That's aggravating. I wonder why people suggested using LJArchive to move their journals if it can't actually do so?

Anyway, thank you *so* much!
Good question! It is a really good way to back your journal up, though, if you don't necessarily want to port it over.

Hopefully LJ-Sec will work for you. (:
Thank you so much!
I have a whole bunch of links (including links on how to use LJ-Sec) here: http://liz-marcs.insanejournal.com/260277.html
Thank you so much! I've read a few of your posts in the past, via Ducks' LJ. I should have just checked your journal, but it's been one of *those* days. Again, thank you!
I took a look at (very helpful) post you linked but I had a question. Is that for personal journals only or will it work for communities (though the tag part, ouch, would be a drawback with something that size).
I honestly don't know if it works for communities.

You might want to ask that question at [info]07refugees. I'm sure someone over there has either asked or answered that question.
As others have said LJ Archive isn't able to transfer to another journal though it is an excellent way to keep a copy of your comments and other things.

As great as LJ-Sec is you won't get things like user icons and tags crossing over.

If you are not leaving LJ completely you can use Semagic to post to multiple journals, which will allow you to mirror your entries.

Do you recall who the person was that wrote about using LJ Archive in this way?
It was an article, based on a post and can be found here.
As others have said LJ Sec, not LJ Archive, can transfer your LJ's entries (but not tags, comments, mood, music, etc.). I use LJ Archive as a back-up record of my journal's entries, comments, etc; it's quite nice for that.
