mood: curious

Semagic choked trying to cross-post my last entry to GJ, so I visited the site (which I rarely do because this has been my primary). Get an error saying :

"Sorry

We're currently working on something. The site will be back up shortly."

Don't know whether they are actually trying to fix something (like the not-staying-logged-in issue), but I somehow doubt it.

Clearly, the TRUE wording should be:

Don't worry much about that, I've had the same message when trying to access IJ a couple times. It doesn't mean the place is dead necessarily.

Wow....
If they come back up, I hope the remaining GJ users will backup their entries and move elsewhere. This is horrible.

I'm not sure if it will be back up either, 'cause I know how system did (or didn't) work.

Its an automatic message when the site goes down I do believe. Either way the site is back up now and allows you to stay logged in. There is a post on news about it, but there are still tons of errors happening.

I went over there to delete my journal and got into a loop where I'd log in, go to the FAQ, click the link to delete the journal, and be told I couldn't do that until I logged in. Around and around. Things certainly appears to be falling apart at GJ.

The site is back up, to an extent. I went to 'update journal' after I logged in and got a message above the page that said "IMPORTANT: GJ is currently running on a backup DB - we recommend using exporting journal and using insanejournal instead - more info". The 'more info' link takes you to http://www.greatestjournal.com/community/news/100625.html there.

whoah. Things are really screwed over there. Now they're not just telling new folks not to get on, but they're telling everyone currently on board to abandon ship.
