Shouldn't that be a -1st strike...?

There have been first strike warnings issued to at least two LJers - one of whom had deleted the picture in question more than a week previous, but though it was completely inaccessible to her it was still on LJ's servers, and the other who had f-locked all her posts and posted age statements.

There's a summary by diachrony that explains it all and has the links in one handy place for your reading pleasure. Or torture. One of the two. Either way, there is discussion on exactly what this means if age statements don't mean anything and even deleting the pictures may not be enough.

The whole situation over there has gone beyond what I have words for.

The links to The Pepsi gifts to lj_biz and co are amusing, and whilst I can understand the protest, don't they cost to send to someone? Admittedly probably not much, but...Maybe because I see that even in protest, LJ have just effectively got more money from Fandom.
Nope. They're free:

Why not send a free v-gift to a friend who needs to stay awake? Choose from a Diet Pepsi MAX can, case, or bottle. Everyone can send up to 10 of these free v-gifts each week for the next month, until September 15th. You can't send the sponsored v-gifts anonymously, but all account levels are welcome to send them (Paid users won't see the sponsored copy attached to the gifts.)

Although, someone on JF made the point of possibly Pepsi paying something every time one is sent.
(icon directed at myself, or LJ, take your pick)

If they don't cost anything then it's no loss on the LJ users side, but if Pepsi pay something, then it's still money LJ/SA get (teach me to just skim the lj_biz posts :]).

But, I still understand the sentiment.
The Pepsi gifts are free to send to anyone.
Yeah, I just read. I need to stop skimming those bits quite as much as I do. Good job I read their 'policy updates' a little more intently.
But surely LJ can track how many of the Pepsi "gifts" are given and show that to other corporate sponsors? "See, look how many of our users gave virtual Pepsi to each other! Wouldn't you like us to offer them your product as well?"

So spamming with the Pepsi gifts could inadvertently end up attracting more sponsored v-gifts.
