In case anyone wants to know why you're looking for a community away from LJ...

In which Burr86 has time to make fun of Strikethrough '07 and LJers, but no time to answer questions.

Burr86 being, among other things, a Six Apart executive who frequently addresses LJers and their questions.

I'm just incredulous. I can't believe that any so-called professional businessman would act like this toward his customers. Even after he was called on it, he still continued to make fun of people.

I think that we can safely say that this is LJ's attitude toward its customers.

They do not like their customers.

They do not respect their customers.

They think nothing of mocking their customers and their concerns publicly.

Isn't that CHARMING?

I'm wondering if [info]burr86 will still have a job on Monday...
I wish I could say 'no'. Unfortunately, gut instinct is telling me he'll get a pay raise.
Given that Anil Dash (VP of 6A) practically makes a hobby of insulting users in public (see: the petition drama last summer, his comments on Metafilter during the strikethrough), I doubt [info]burr86 will be losing his job.
Okay, I read them. Maybe the hour (Kitteh pounced and nibbled starting at 4am). Is it just me, or is anyone else wondering if either his account was hacked, or someone had *way* the fuck to much to drink? Yeah, the man has the personality of an organic banana left out to long, but this was just...weird.

If it was the Drunk option...I am one of those who think the drunk/heat of the moment spewage is actually more truthful than when not.

I am one confuzzled Gator. *drinks more coffee, to keep the farmers in bizness* (Allie winders if the Farm/Ag report at 5am is really wise, as Allie is a bit susceptible)

Allie thanks the Intranets ghods for spell check.
...maybe he just forgot to switch accounts? *snickersnort* I know I sometimes forget to switch and comment with a wrong one...
Wonderful. I'm so glad I'm moving off LJ and have backed everything up. I'd hate to be dependent on them still.

There are alternatives and we're going to use them!
While I'm disgusted at his behaviour apparently he is on vacation. =/
I just have to say, this is quite possibly the funniest thing I've read all night.
That was genius. Give the person an award.
Unfortunately, it's gone now. Surprised? Not at all.
It was something along the lines of, "If I get any more confused, they'll make me write the TOS." XD
It was the owner of the community it was posted in who deleted the thread.
Also... *is highly amused by database error*
Oh thank goodness, it's not just me? lol
*shaking head*

nope, saw some comments in other places, too so it's not just us, either.

*lol* I think fandom broke LJ...
*snicker* OK I need to upload more user pics because apparently I don't have an 'I didn't do it' one on IJ yet...

I wouldn't be surprised though if it was related.
Most likely. I was having problems earlier with posting. My only thought was 'oh God fandom'. Strangely it stopped working for me when I was replying to news about the wank.
Drat. I got to it in time to see "Error, no such entry" -- because deleting it makes it all go away like no-one ever saw it.
Lol..oh damn!
There's a link to a saved copy of the post here (on the third page).
Um, I clicked your link and there isn't a third page...are they backpedaling and baleeting all over the place -- again?
Oh, it's on the second page. (I think I might have gotten confused about it because I think the saved page shows three pages of comments.)
To be fair the community mod deleted the post and has complained to 6A about his comment to that post.
Except for all the people who got screenshots and have undoubtably emailed and posted them all over the web already. :P
From what has been said, the community that he is posting in is a drama/wank RP. While it is a "game" so to say, someone that works for LJ should have a seperate account for such things because other people aren't going to look at the explination, just the words.
You said it.
There was a very good comment on the subject by someone, basically saying if it is purely RP, then it being out of context, with no real explanation on the userinfo of the community, creates a blur between fiction and reality that's deliciously ironic considering that seemed to be one of 6As problems originally; on the other hand if it really is his beliefs then... he's an enormous cockmudgeon, basically. I can't remember how they put it all, it was very well thought out and completely lovely though.
Oh, and there are some in the comments to the Firefox article too:

I am all for Abe expressing his opinion, however to mock fandom (regardless of whether he was "Role playing" or not as per what the comm is for) using a journal that has been used to address these concerns of fiction vs reality isn't particularly professional. Ironically, the very comment that 'he is rping and may not reflect his personal views' is exactly what fandom has been saying re: fiction/rping vs reality and now it's coming back to bite Abe in the ass (sciencegeek)

Agreed with you, sciencegeek. The "But's it's an RP, it's not REAL!" excuse rings hollow, unless they are willing to cede the same reality vs. fiction defense to the other side. I'm pretty sure it's not fandom who is unclear on what the differences between real and not-real are, here. (WriterZilch)
Way to go, Six Apart. You have the money-grubbing cowardice of a large corporation, and the communication and customer-service skills of a bunch of 133t teenage computer geeks with attitude problems.
