Who: Oliver and Meghan
What: Getting checked out by the Mediwitches in the first aid tent. And a surprise!
Where: Caerphilly Pitch
When: Yesterday after the Scotland/Australia match
Rating/Status: TBA? And Incomplete. Also, I'm going to start this here, but the log might be done through email if it's easier on both of us?

"Ugh," Oliver groaned as he laid on the bed that the first aid tents had set up for injured players. It had been a rough match. The Australian beaters saw a flaw in their plan to win by the name of Oliver Wood, so they're way to solve it was to purposely aim the bludgers at him. The first missed, but the second took him out, sending him to the ground and onto his head.

Now, this wasn't the first time Oliver landed on his head. Nor was it the worst by any means. But knowing he had to be taken out of the game for it is what hurt the most. He had full confidence in Meghan, but she still wasn't a hundred percent. And that worried him. Not only as a teammate, but as his girlfriend.

She did fine at first, but before he knew it, he watched the vomit fly. Something was wrong, and Meghan knew it too as she looked at their coach, who promptly put Oliver back in.

Now sporting one hell of a headache, Oliver was off his game. Goals were being scored left and right. Thankfully Iwelumo caught the snitch before things got worse.

So there Oliver laid, some potions already taken but his head still pounding. "Those wankers got a game suspension, right?" Oliver asked to whoever was listening.

Turkish Seeker Benched
Erastus Saint

The Quidditch World Cup never fails to bring up a handful of scandals. Though they were avoided during the first preliminary games, reports this morning do confirm that Turkish Seeker Zafer Unsal has been benched for an unreleased number of games due to a pub brawl the player was involved in late yesterday evening with a Welsh supporter. The melee ended with mediwizards called to the scene to treat multiple injures, and with quite a bit of damage done to the small wizarding pub in Holyhead.

Unsal will be replaced with reservist Anlan Yavuz, a Turkish minor league player with no previous World Cup experience. It remains to be seen how this will affect Turkey's chances in today's preliminary game against Japan.

Quidditch Q & A
Stenton Fenley

With big successes and history made by our National Teams in last week's first preliminary Quidditch World Cup games, we at The Daily Prophet began a new daily column; a quick question and answer session, new each day, with a member of one of our national teams. Today's interview is with Ashley Upson of Wales. Read on for his answers.

Miss Warnock, first we'll start with something simple. What's your middle name?
Benjamin.

What's your favourite colour?
I’m fond of green.

Favourite food?
Cornish pasties. Though I know that’s darn near sacrilege. Sorry!

Favourite shop?
Quality Quidditch Supplies!

Tell us something about you not everyone knows?
My first broom was an old one, and it was so slow that the kids in the neighbourhood would laugh at me. I didn’t get a new one until I made the Quidditch team at Hogwarts.

What's your family like?
Weird. There are a bunch of us, and we all have our quirks. It makes for pretty awesome family dinners.

What do you love about Quidditch?
People don’t think about the fact that my name’s Ashley. No, er, I just love it?

How did you feel, knowing you'd made the National Team?
It’s brilliant. I was with a bunch of my mates waiting for the news, and it was just roars of congratulations the moment news came out.

Which international teams do you think will do well, other than the UK teams?
I’m watching Australia and New Zealand. They’re pretty awesome teams.

Do you have anything to say to your fans?
You’re pretty awesome. Thanks for cheering! Go Wales!

Death Eaters Terrorize Journaling Public
Erastus Saint

In a shocking turn of events far too reminiscent of the dark days of war, fugitive Death Eaters have begun making public posts in the popular wizarding journaling system creatd by Flourish & Blotts and then reimaged by Weasley Wizard Wheezes.

There have been reports that some fugitives had been writing, though Daily Prophet sources were unable to confirm the veracity of these reports until yesterday, when known Death Eater Amycus Carrow began writing publicly. The journals, which portray the identity of all writers so that anonymous or secretive writing is prohibited, do not offer a way to track the location of idividual authors, though Aurors and representatives from both Weasley Wizard Wheezes and Flourish & Blotts are looking into modifications to the journaling system.

For now, the official word from the Ministry of Magic is that those who see the writings of known fugitives do not respond to them. Auror Dawlish had this advice, "This should serve as a reminder that these people are still out there, hiding under their rocks. We haven't been able to track down all of them, but they're alone, and their cause is broken. They have no power except that which they get by causing fear. Ignore them, and be wary."

We at the Daily Prophet urge all citizens, and our foreign visitors, to be mindful of how potentially dangerous these fugitives are, and if you have any information on their whereabouts please notify Aurors at once.

Quidditch History is Made
Flora Swift

Those who left the Ireland versus Bulgaria Quidditch World Cup preliminary game this week had reason to be confused. With the score tied at one hundred and fifty points and the snitch caught, many left wondering who exactly had won the game, and what would be done about the tie. It was definitely a strange game. Lasting just under two hours, Ireland caught 15 quaffles and Bulgaria hovered at nil until Bulgarian Seeker Viktor Krum caught the Snitch, ending the game.

After several days of research into Quidditch bylaws and history, the official word from the Department of Magical Games and Sports came down this morning and the tied game is, indeed, the first such game in the history of Quidditch. Krum could not be reached for an interview, but a team representative has said "Bulgaria has always been known for breaking records, it only stands to reason that we should make history as well."

Provided both teams advance to the quarterfinals, the Department of Magical Games and Sports has determined a method for breaking any ties before setting up the quarterfinal brackets.

Quidditch Q & A
Stenton Fenley

With big successes and history made by our National Teams in last week's first preliminary Quidditch World Cup games, we at The Daily Prophet began a new daily column; a quick question and answer session, new each day, with a member of one of our national teams. Today's interview is with Gwen Warnock of the Welsh National Team. Read on for her answers.

Miss Warnock, first we'll start with something simple. What's your middle name?
Arianhrod. My parents loved their Welsh folklore.

What's your favourite colour?
Turquoise.

Favourite food?
Leek soup.

Favourite shop?
There’s this little tiny shop in Caerphilly, the kind that no one can pronounce the name of unless they’re Welsh, and it sells the best Quidditch gear.

Tell us something about you not everyone knows?
My name used to be Gwendolyn. I didn’t like it, and no one called me it, so I had it legally changed to Gwen on my seventeenth birthday.

What's your family like?
The epitome of Welsh. I have the easiest name to pronounce of all of us, even before I had my name changed.

What do you love about Quidditch?
It’s the best sport that I’ve ever played, and I’ve tried many. You just can’t beat it for excitement value.

How did you feel, knowing you'd made the National Team?
It was a total thrill. It’s all I’ve ever wanted, to play for Wales. I’m so happy to be here.

Which international teams do you think will do well, other than the UK teams?
This is so hard! I’m looking for some great performances from all of the teams here,

Do you have anything to say to your fans?
Thanks for cheering for us! You’re all amazing!

Who: Essery and Gideon
What: Listening to the Quidditch World Cup Games on the WWN
Where: Gideon's home
When: Today
Rating: TBA

If anything could make you feel old, it was being offered a Head of House position at Hogwarts. Essery was officially Hufflepuff Head of House now. It was, quite frankly, ridiculous to her. She pictured Professor Sprout and Professor Flitwick. Brilliant people, but grandparent-ish. Wizened. Definitely not her.

So, she'd been feeling a bit old when Gideon had owled her that morning. Luckily, she figured there was nothing like an afternoon with an indolent rockstar to make you feel young again, so she found herself apparating over around noon with a bag full of bags of crisps and a chocolate cake she'd bought at the grocery.

Artifacts Stolen from Hitchens Manor
Erastus Saint

Mrs. Isabella Hitchens (née Yaxley) reported a disturbing break-in into her family estate early this morning. The theft was discovered around eight in the morning when the elderly Mrs. Hitchens went into her family safe, as she is wont to do once a week. "I like to polish the jewels you see. Oh, I'm too old and daft to go out to grand parties anymore, but I always did like my sparklies! You aren't anything without some sparkle!" she confided, before dissolving into heartbroken tears.

According to her caretaker, a friend of the family who declined to be named, the burglary was no common theft attempt. Several of the items are magical artifacts were several pieces which look completely innocuous, and which would be potentially disastrous if they found their way into the Muggle world. According to one of the Aurors on the scene, "We are particularly worried about a set of silver arm bands, once owned by the druidess Circe, and a set of necklaces with origins we've never quite been able to place. These items are very valuable, of course. But more importantly, they are a part of our cultural history. And dangerous at that. They must be found."

According to our sources at the Ministry, The Department of Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office has been notified and several Aurors have been assigned to the case. Thus far, they have no leads in the case.

Cauldron's Newest Novel Breaks Records
Emma Wittles

In a surprising move on the bestseller romance list, for the first time in her decade-long career, infamous author Celeste Sparks was trumped on her debut of her thirteenth novel in her "Rogue Warlocks" series, Warlock in White by a fairy new up and comer to the genre, the mysterious Sabrina Cauldron.

Ms. Cauldron has a series of solid best sellers, her last three of five previous novels making it into the top five for several weeks, but this is the first time sales have broken the longstanding record of Ms. Sparks and her well-known series and plots. Perhaps this fresh face is bringing a new and much-needed breath of fresh air to the world of wizarding romance novels. Unlike Celeste's recycled versions of the old tried and true formulas, where the bad wizard turns good for the witch of his dreams, Sabrina Cauldron's refreshing plots put a new twist on the old ideas, her wicked wizards instead luring their bold heroines into their own dastardly deeds and leaving the reader breathless with anticipation at what deliciously devilish mischief the couple will get into next!

Bravo to Ms. Sabrina Cauldron and we look forward to seeing more of her work in the future! Perhaps the author will even deign to allow for an interview, an honor she has never yet granted to anyone, that we've been able to discover!

Quidditch World Cup Begins
Erastus Saint

It has been clear in wizarding areas all around Britian this week that today would mark the beginning of the Quidditch World Cup, as international players from around the world arrived to take their temporary residences in towns such as Holyhead and Portree, living close to the Quidditch pitches that have been marked as their practice pictches for the coming weeks.

Then, finally, today it's time. The games begin! The first preliminary games are being held this week. Today's games are the showings between Argentina versus our very own English National Team, Turkey versus India, Italy versus Spain, and the United States in what is predicted to be a simple victory for our Scottish National Team.

Quidditch fans began assembling in stadiums early this morning, as have reporters from magical news outlets from across the globe. With tourism at a decade high in wizarding Britain, this flood of international traffic is set to be a widespread economic boon, as well. Of course, money is the last things on the minds of true Quidditch fans, who, if not at the games themselves, will surely be listening to the all day Quidditch World Cup coverage provided by the Wizarding Wireless Network.

It promises to be an outstanding World Cup!
