At this point, Ginny could think of nothing but the blue velvet box in her pocket. No matter where she was, her mind was on that box, on what it meant, what would happen next. She was certain she was acting differently, putting distance between her and Sam but she couldn't help it. She was wrapped up in her thoughts, completely distracted by what she was planning to do.

She hadn't let the box out of her sight since she bought it the other day. It was in her pocket, she could feel the weight of it against her leg, and yet she couldn't stop touching it, making sure it was still there. She went to bed after Sam so she could hide it from the other woman and didn't sleep well, making sure to wake before her girlfriend did so she could retrieve it.

In short, a simple little ring was driving her completely and utterly mad.

Heaving a sigh, she flopped onto the couch, her fingers moving to tap the box in her pocket before she threw her arm over her face and heaved another sigh.

Bent over her keyboard across the room, Sam ignored the first sigh and instead hummed softly to herself, matching each note as she played out the chorus stuck in her head. The second sigh was unmistakeable and she finally releneted, smiling to herself as she crossed to the couch.

"Giiiinny," she sang softly, brushing her fingers lightly over Ginny's forearm as she sat beside her and scooted close. Her girlfriend had been uncharacteristically quiet the last few days and she couldn't figure for the life of her what was wrong. And she'd definitely been keeping an eye out for any hint. "Alright?" she said, resting her chin on the redhead's shoulder.

"Mmf," Ginny mumbled into her arm, unable to hide the smile that curved her lips at Sam's closeness. "Just thinky," she elaborated, slinging her arm over her girlfriend's shoulders and tugging her close. "Lots going on up here," she tapped her head and sighed again.

Wriggling, Ginny held Sam close and slid them down on the couch, cuddling against her. "You know I love you, right" she asked, after a long moment, her eyes on the ceiling.

Stretching up, Sam kissed Ginny's temple. "What'd I tell you about that?" she joked, snuggling back down beside her. "You don't need to think, just keep being pretty." She laughed happily before falling into silence with Ginny, glancing at her curiously and wondered what would come of asking her to elaborate. "I do," she said, saved from having to try her probing question. "I love you too."

Sitting up slightly, Sam tried to think of something to distract Ginny from whatever heavy thoughts were causing the normal brightness she always loved to see diminish so. "Want to hear the song I'm working on?"

Ginny tugged Sam back against her, pressing a kiss to her forehead, not ready to let the other woman out of her arms yet. "Is it about me?" she asked, smiling slightly. "I think all songs should be about me."

Something with music, Angelina had said. Well, there was music, right there. But Ginny couldn't ask now... could she? She didn't have a plan, there was nothing romantic or special she'd thought of, just them, in their living room, of all places.

	Shrugging, Ginny tickled her fingers up and down Sam's side. "I can't help it if I'm amazing inspiration." Draping her arm over her forehead, she pulled a face. Wrapping her arms around Sam tightly, Ginny shrugged. "I don't know but I can tell you what she's not doing..." she trailed off, then pressed her lips against Sam's, kissing her soundly. "She's not snogging a beautiful bird and being the world's most brilliant muse!" Pausing slightly, Ginny considered what she'd just said. "Or if she is, she's got some explaining to do."

	Despite the fact Ginny had her laughing again, Sam tried to give her a doubtful look. "See, there goes that ego again," she teased, but pulled her in for another kiss. "Hey, I'm not a numpty you muppet!" Sam countered, sitting up when Ginny pulled away slightly, and stuck her tongue out at her. It took a second for the appearance of the box and her girlfriend's second statement to resonate with her. "I-" Sporting a surprised, and somewhat confused smile, she looked back and forth between Ginny and the ring, some part of her mind trying to decide if she was taking the piss or if she'd actually proposed. She kept watching Ginny's face for a change as she took the box and opened it, not sure what she expected to find. The ring inside wiped any doubt from her mind. "Gin," she breathed softly, looking back at her with the same surprised grin, only wider. "That's fucking gorgeous!"

	Swallowing her nerves at Sam's lack of a proper answer, Ginny tickled her fingers along her girlfriend's stomach. "I know it is, I picked it out," she gave Sam another moment before poking her in the side. "You're supposed to say yes," she prompted, trying to hide her nervous smile. Sam opened her mouth to say yes but shut it, taking a moment to make a face at Ginny's teasing and yoinked the box away from her. "Yes, of course I'm going to say yes. Bloody impatient," she said, winking. Sam sat up and draped her legs over the other girl, sliding the ring onto her finger. "You didn't even have to ask, Gin," she said, eyes stuck watching the sparkly effect.

"What's wrong with thinking about only me?" Sam joked as she snuggled back down against Ginny, lying beside her. "I like that," she said, holding her hand up so they could both look at the ring. "The official bit. Being yours, officially." She stared at her finger with Ginny for a moment, not speaking until she dropped her hand back down and turned her head to look at the woman beside her. "You haven't kissed me yet," she said simply. "Isn't that how it goes?"

"Well," Ginny wound her arms around Sam and held her close. "You made me wait before you said yes, I figure it's only fair to make you wait for kisses."

She pulled a face, but was unable to keep it that way for more than a moment before a wide grin curved her lips. If being engaged made her this happy, she didn't know why she'd waited so long to ask! Unable to stop herself, she let out a giggle, ducking her head and kissing Sam deeply.

	"Waiting is good for you," she muttered, wrapping around the other woman. She didn't want to stop kissing her and when Ginny tried to pull back she only tugged her back in. She loved kissing Ginny and each one was wonderful but these kisses were almost as exciting as when they'd first gotten together. It made her giggle, echoing Ginny's. (Reply to this) (Parent)
