Who: Essery and Gideon
What: Listening to the Quidditch World Cup Games on the WWN
Where: Gideon's home
When: Today
Rating: TBA

If anything could make you feel old, it was being offered a Head of House position at Hogwarts. Essery was officially Hufflepuff Head of House now. It was, quite frankly, ridiculous to her. She pictured Professor Sprout and Professor Flitwick. Brilliant people, but grandparent-ish. Wizened. Definitely not her.

So, she'd been feeling a bit old when Gideon had owled her that morning. Luckily, she figured there was nothing like an afternoon with an indolent rockstar to make you feel young again, so she found herself apparating over around noon with a bag full of bags of crisps and a chocolate cake she'd bought at the grocery.

Gideon had shifted the wards to let her actually apparate onto the front step, instead of outside the gated drive like most people ended up at. If the neighbors wandered why there were two huge gargoyles on the gateposts, Gideon never asked.

He'd been waiting for the popping sound of her arrival and a moment later, before she could even knock, the door opened. "Well, hello there, beautiful. Oh, you brought food, see I knew you were brilliant. Come on in. Welcome to the house of awesome."

"Well, in some countries they consider crisps and chocolate cake food..." Essery came in carrying the overfilled bag and looked around before deciding that yes, she'd need directions. The place was bloody huge.

"Kitchen first, then you can show me around the house of awesome. Did I hear a goat when I popped in?"

Gideon laughed. "Yes, you did. He mows the roof. Grass! On the roof! So of course, we needed a goat."

Luckily, for all the vastness, the house was a fairly open floorplan, and once past the foyer, it opened into a large space that was a combination kitchen, dining and sitting room. A hall went off one way towards the bedrooms, sliding doors led off into a split level of what looked to be half family room, half rehearsal space, and a couple of small doors led to the guest bath and storage closet respectively.

"Well, thatched and all..." Essery giggled, then shook her head. "You keep a goat on your roof, though? How do you clean up after him?"

She let herself be led to the kitchen and she sat down the bag, then reached in and took out a bag of sea salt and vinegar crisps, tossing them to him and taking out a package of sweet onion crisps for herself. "So, this is how a rockstar lives. Or three of them, right? The Weirdie news does reach me, via students. You live with Heath and Merton, too?"

"Pfft, thatching is dead grass. This is LIVE grass. It grows. It's supposed to be like, natural insulation or something. And I'm a wizard, of course. Magic makes goat messes go poof!"

He grabbed the chips, opening them with a ripping sound and popping one into his mouth. "Hmmm, these are the good kind too." He nodded, cocking one hip to lean against the kitchen counter. "Uh huh. Me, Heath, Merton and whatever pets Mert has snuck into the house in the last week."

That made Essery laugh and shake her head. "Merton hasn't changed a bit since school, then, has he? He used to make a terror of himself in Hufflepuff doing the same thing..." It hadn't been as cute then as it was now that he was a famous rockstar, of course.

"Lobster though, very nice. Especially if he hasn't noticed that you've cooked them."

"It's gotten worse since he started watching muggle TV. There's an entire channel devoted to animal shows. It's better then when he was stuck on the food channel though. That's how he ended up here, burnt down his last flat."

He shrugged and didn't look too apologetic. "He brings stuff that is edible, its going to get cooked. We just told them they got lonely and we sent them to live with the dolphins"

"And then he ate the bisque and didn't think twice about it?" Essery rolled her eyes, then looked around and started wandering back toward the living room where she assumed the wireless was. "So, who are we rooting for today. Ireland, I'm assuming. What about the other games?"

"You mean there are other teams besides Ireland? No bloody way. Here I thought they were just going to fly around, win and take home the Cup." He grinned, leading her back into the living room. Half of it was rehearsal space, instruments and recording equipment, several of Heath's guitars on the walls, Merton's cello case in the corner, a small piano set up in the other corner.

The other end was all relaxation, a wide screen telly on the wall above a low stone fireplace, big, wide, deep couches in a u-shape around it, and a shiny stereo system that caught the Wireless and Muggle stations as well.

He jumped over the back of the couch and let himself slide onto the couch seat, patting the place beside him, and leaned over to the wide coffee table in the middle hat was covered with music and wizarding magazines and about three remotes. He picked up one, and started pressing buttons. A moment later, the home theater system kicked in, the Wireless coming on in stereo sound- and very loudly. He winced and turned the volume way down.

Essery took more time than he did, walking around the the large living space and letting her fingers trail over the keys of the piano.

"Oh!" She said, coming back to the couch. "You know I took over the Choir last year from Flitwick. I always meant to write you. Maybe you can come and be Head of Ravenclaw and music tutor."

He laughed. "Right, Essery. Because I always impressed you as the sort to have the patience to teach? Smart, yes, patient, no. Also, teaching is hard work and you know how I feel about that."

"You want anything to drink? Beer, soda, water, juice? Or I have a fully stocked liquor cabinet that can be raided."

"No," Essery agreed, "but you are musically inclined. And how awesome would I be if I was the professor who got the sodding Weird Sisters to volunteer some time with the students of Hogwarts?" She'd be the most popular professor in history, she was pretty sure, at least with her female students.

"Beer's fine. What are doing with that drinking game, and I'll know what I'm drinking."

He tsked. "Essery, if you're going to use me, at least use me for my body, not my musical talent. I mean, really!" he teased. He shrugged. "Maybe we could do a... I don't know, exhibition, or something, for the day, get a couple of the guys to go. Assuming Snape would let us on his school grounds."

He leaned over, pulling out a cooler that had a chilling charm on it, and digging out two beers, handing one to her and twisting the cap off for her, and then doing the same to his. His was notably non-alchoholic.

Essery rolled her eyes. "I tried using you for your body before, Gideon. Your musical talent sticks around." She grinned though, because she was teasing, and then she turned so her shoulder was shoved up against his while she took the beer and took a drink.

"But that would be cook. Just showing off, really, that I know you, but it works for me."

He slapped his hand against his chest, flopping back into the couch dramatically. "Och. Right to the heart, Essey. You can't possibly be holding a grudge! It was a brilliant shag. You weren't complaining then, if I remember right..."

He smirked. "You could show off you know me just with a bunch of autographs. You want to show ME off, just admit it. Because I'm just that hot."
