Draco followed the instructions Snape had given him. After talking to Astoria about the charity the other night he was ready to have it settled and done with. Besides, only six weeks until term started? He supposed Nott would need to be moved and settled in before the first of September. He found the home easily enough, looking about the street at the other cottages and then approaching carefully, wary of wards, and knocking at the front door. Snape's home... Draco wasn't at all sure what to expect of that.

The fact that villagers had perfectly innocent reasons to walk past his property had somewhat restricted Severus in the amount and type of protective magic he could raise around his house, but on the doorstep it was easy to feel what he had been able to put up, close against the walls. He opened the door at Draco's knock, and nodded as he stepped aside. "Come in." Every available surface or blank wall in the parlor was packed with neatly-arranged books, and the only fixtures were a few low lamps and one chair by the fire. It was clear he didn't entertain. This would be a standing meeting. He shut the door and looked his guest in the eye, not that he expected to see much. "What is it?"

	"There's a good welcome for me," Draco had lost none of his sarcasm over the years. He did take a look around the place, and figured it suited Snape, though he wondered where the cauldrons were kept. It smelled better here than he had expected. Severus sneered, but without any real malice. "You observe the niceties now, do you? Anyone can change, I suppose."

He hadn't really expected it to have anything to do with Goyle, who, he was sure, had already been taken care of. He could do nothing else for him that he could see. "Goyle has already come to me - he's to be the new Keeper of the Keys and Grounds, in what I'm sure will be an ill-fated attempt to convince the proper committee and St. Mungo's that he's suited to babysit what's left of Mr. Nott." It was good to see that Draco felt something like responsibility - he assumed - but he had already done what he could. "He's asked for your assistance, has he?"

"Well, one has to grow up a bit," Draco answered, and then he deflated a bit and shook his head.

"Goyle's came to me mostly to tell me about your hiring him and ask my advice on what he needed to do to look respectable," He said with a shrug. "I had some ideas, but when he told me about wanting to get Nott out. Well, I've ways that I can do that. But I wanted to be sure that he'd be welcome to be with Goyle when I do. I've no where else to put him, save with Goyle. Who I believe has already begun making the cottage cozy. Ridiculous as that sounds."

"At Hogwarts, you mean." Severus sniffed, crossing his arms over his chest. He'd already as good as told Goyle that he could look after Nott in the groundskeeper's hut, but that was no reason not to reconsider. "There will certainly be people who won't care to have him there. It isn't the proper place for someone in his condition, whatever his condition really is. I'm willing to endure a little trouble on their behalf, of course, but I do wonder." He gave Draco a searching look. "You know them better than I do. But the whole thing seems to me a little ... questionable."

Yes. Harboring a madman at a school with children where he would be living with his homosexual ex-convict lover did sound a bit questionable. Draco cleared his throat and worked exceptionally hard at not saying that aloud, because he didn't want Snape backing out of his side of things.

"I think you can quell any letters you might receive. Don't parents have better things to complain about than helping war victims?" Which was what Draco would spin it as when his charity was founded, at least.

"No, they do not." Severus hadn't found that very surprising - there was an awful lot to complain about - but he rarely cared enough to spend the time to spin anything properly, which surely contributed to the number of irate owls. "And Mr. Nott has an unfortunate name, as far as war victims go. You trust Goyle with him?" He couldn't remember ever thinking of Goyle as caring, and this ... Knowing what he did about Nott and Goyle's relationship (and what he would very happily have forgotten), it seemed problematic. Nott was in no state to care for himself, and handing him over to someone with dubious motives would have troubled him. He didn't know why. He'd spent too long sitting in Dumbledore's chair, maybe.

	"Goyle seems to care enough for him to make a good show of trying, and Mungo's isn't doing Nott any favours..." Draco didn't sound as sure as he might have, though, if he really thought Goyle could do any good. "You'll have Pomfrey, though, yes? Or ... no, she's left, hasn't she? "Jones. Yes." He found her rather tolerable, really, which didn't make the prospect of saddling her with Nott particularly exciting. "But she - and Goyle, and I - will have other responsibilities, and I can't have him wandering out into the Forest. Or up to the castle." It sounded worse and worse, the more he spoke about it. On the other hand - it wasn't as though Nott would be the first mad, potentially dangerous thing to be wandering the grounds.

Severus nodded sharply. Draco was right - it would be easy enough to keep Nott in one place, and Goyle would simply have to cope; he was being done a favor. "Yes. Very well. Goyle's started talking about bringing back the Squid, and so long as it keeps him occupied I don't see why it should trouble anyone." Nott had always been fairly quiet in his eccentricities. He was probably harmless. "He can stay for as long as he behaves himself."

	"Let's not get ahead of ourselves," Severus replied, dry. "I hope you won't have gone to the trouble just to see him booted out for frightening the first-years. Was there anything else?" 	He raised an eyebrow, although the unsolicited commentary really came as no surprise. "Not all of us need thirty-some rooms to be comfortable, Mr. Malfoy." "Yes, I imagine you can fritter hours away on that sort of frivolity. Thank you." Situation was probably too kind a word for all of this. If it had been possible for Severus to be less excited about the start of term than he already was, he might have minded more. As things stood, however ... he was going to do his best not to concern himself with it overmuch. "If anything goes wrong, of course, I won't hesitate to call on you."
