It never ceases to amaze me, how different this place is to home.  Inspite everyone saying there's a war brewing.  Unlike in NOLA, I can't see it.  Oh, I know there are demons and angels running around, making moves.  But, here life goes on.  I've missed that.  It's been a long time that I haven't had some sort of responsibility.  People to look after, a city to run.

Anyway, what I mean is, anyone else constantly worrying about what's going down at home?  Especially when we're not fictional, we have no idea.

Katherine and I will be home from our trip on Monday. After I drop her off at the manor, I'd love to come over and see you and my niece.

Hayley was a werewolf of my acquaintance back in Mystic Falls. Last I knew she'd screwed over Tyler Lockwood which admittidly raised her in my estimation but there was little else I knew of her.

As it turns out, later in my timeline I sleep with her.

In doing so, for whatever reason I don't yet understand she became pregnant.

The result is Hope. I've seen her, held her and I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt, she is mine. If nothing else the proof is in the fact that Hayley is a Hybrid. This was because of Hope.

She'll be looked after, for now she is staying with Marcel, eventually I will find her somewhere to stay.

Elijah Rebekah. No offence but your partners have both used family against me in the past so while they've probably worked out most of it I'd rather them not know the whole story. And don't tell me either of them is incapable of using her, you should both know better.

Crowley and Anna I do not believe would.

Okay, I have a question. And I'm going to try to keep this as neutral as possible. But I really do want to know what makes the difference in the cases of blatantly obvious double standards you see around here. What makes the hatred of one person over another any better or more accepted somehow? Why can people feel justified in hating one specific individual, but if anything is pushed against another, people are jumping at them for it? It doesn't make sense.

I was going to try and keep it generalized, but it's not working out. So I'll be specific. And, again, try to be neutral, here. But look at it with the various little dramas that are happening now. People are all levels of mad at Ward for his actions on Loki, they're hounding him for it, making him out to be the bad guy. Even though he has legitimate reasons to hate Loki, everyone cries that this Loki hasn't done those things yet, so how dare Ward hold it against him? Except those things have happened for Ward, so how is that even a little fair? To be honest, the only people I don't have issue with taking such offense here in this situation is the family. Because reasons don't mean shit when family comes into play and I know that better than anyone. So yeah, family types, don't go jumping down my throat for this one, yeah?

Meanwhile, Davina is completely justified in her vilification of my brothers for future actions they've committed against her and, more especially in Klaus' case, people don't tell her she's wrong for feeling the way she does at all. They don't tell her she should calm down or try to hound her over threats she's made toward him. Admittedly it was when she first showed up and, far as I know, she hasn't made any active threats since then, but I don't doubt the ones she made day 1 still hold true in her heart today.

So can you lot just explain this? Explain to me why there is such a difference. Why are these situations practically reversed images of each others? Ward has his reasons for what he did, but is barked at and vilified for it despite those reasons, while the little witch Davina can sit around hating on Nik and not be chastised for it. Is it that Loki's been here longer, done more good overall that makes the difference? Is it just that Davina is the sweet, innocent victim? I just really don't get it.

I know the werewolves that are brought here by the Seal go to the one place that is supposed to be safe for them.

But what do the native ones do?

Can they be in the city?

I know that magic isn't the same everywhere, but I figure that someone might have some advice anyway.

Control is something that I'm realizing I don't always manage. I've gotten better at it, but I've also managed to catch blankets on fire in my sleep a couple of times. So, if anyone has any tips about control I'd definitely appreciate it.

Okay, so I know there are probably a lot of us still reeling from the whole having died, watched others die around us, watched the people we love die on tv, or came back from a happy place only to find out that others have died and all that fun stuff.

So I was thinking we should have a fun, end of the summer party next weekend. I know everyone kind of needs the week and all to cling to one another and stuff and yes Labor Day already passed but I missed it and technically there's still some summer left and we should embrace it.

We don't actually have a pool but I can get some of those above ground ones temporarily installed and a few little pools for the little kids and we can have hot dogs and hamburgers and tofu dogs or whatever they are for those who need those.

And there will apparently be a flying robot dinosaur because you people are trying to give me grey hairs so you know you want to come and see a flying robot dinosaur.

But anyway, next Saturday starting at noon and ending whenever. Food, fun, and sun.
