Happy first day of summer in the Northern Hemisphere! ;) It's the longest day of the year and a perfect day to announce our Snarry Summer Challenge.

From drabbles to novels, fluff to angst, anything Snarry is welcome during the month of July.

We have four themes for you to choose from when creating your entry.

Take any point in canon and deviate from that or use an entirely different setting or time period for our favorite boys entirely. Entries can be set in a different country, be non-magical, include de-aging, time travel, creature!fic, fusions (Severus as Sherlock Holmes, Harry as Watson), or a particular event from canon can be changed: Harry is not the Chosen One, Severus was never a Death Eater, etc. If you can imagine it, we want to read (or view) it!

The Call for Prompts begins Monday, January 20!

This year, we hope to have a fest that will meet everyone's Snarry needs. We will be hosting three fests at snape_potter: Snarry-a-Thon14, The Road Not Taken AR/AU fest, Secret Snarry Swap and one challenge.

For those who like to work from prompts with no limitations on length, there is Snarry-a-Thon14, for those who like an Exchange fest or bite-sized entries during the busy end of the year holidays, there is Secret Snarry Swap, and for those who like to pick up spur-of the moment challenges, there will be our annual summer challenge in July before we slide into Fall and our revolving themed fest, The Road Not Taken AR/AU fest.

The first fest of the new year will be the 6th annual Snarry-a-Thon. Prompt-based and anything goes, our signature fest begins posting April 14th.

The summer months are always a bit slow and we want to perk things up a bit with a challenge. Details will be announced closer to the date, but you can be sure Severus and Harry will be involved somehow. *g*

Since our Autumn fest has a revolving theme, this year the theme for the Autumn fest will be The Road Not Taken AR/AU fest. Magical, non-magical, take any point in canon (including the epilogue!) and deviate from that or use an entirely different setting or time period for our favorite boys entirely. If you can imagine it, we want to read (or view) it!

Our final fest will be Secret Snarry Swap with a participant poll and details to come closer to sign-ups.

The Secret Snarry mods will be posting one or two gifts each and every day from December 1st all the way through to January 6th, Epiphany, the traditional end of the Twelve Days of Christmas.

Gifts were written to the specifications of their recipients, but as with all fests, the entries are also gifts to Snarry fans everywhere. Please let the author or artist know if you enjoyed what they created. ♥

Last, a brief reminder that we post at snape_potter, snape_potter, and snape_potter so if your journal of preference is misbehaving, you can always try one of the others. ;)

The holiday season is still several months away, but it's time to begin sign-ups for snape_potter's 8th Annual Snarry holiday exchange fest.

It may be an old fest, but this year there is a new twist! Secret Snarry Swap will be both an exchange and a prompt fest. How will this work, you ask? As always, we will have our traditional holiday exchange fest, the Secret Snarry Swap. This traditional exchange is designed for those who prefer a fest with longer, more fleshed-out works (3,000 or more word fic, detailed color, or multi-panel art). To give everyone the maximum amount of time to create their works, we will be holding sign-ups for the Honeydukes Deluxe beginning Aug 26. Since the Honeydukes Deluxe is the Exchange part of the fest ALL participants who sign up to take part in the exchange will both give a gift and receive a gift.

But because we know many people are busy with other holiday fests and may not want to commit to a full exchange (or perhaps just like the idea of fulfilling holiday wishes after completing other holiday commitments), the second way to participate will be though the Honeydukes Sampler. We will be gathering prompts beginning the second week of October. This is for smaller gifts (500 to 3,000 word fic, art without detailed background and/or color, a small group of icons). Anyone can submit a prompt without obligation (though it's nice to return the favor when you can). It is designed to be fun and low-stress with bite-sized entries and to be the perfect way to take a break from the holiday rush.

Think of it like this: the Honeydukes Deluxe is a full-fledged Exchange fest where everyone will both give and receive a gift. The Honeydukes Sampler is a way to both give a gift or receive one without the obligation implied in an exchange. Entries do not have to be holiday themed. As long as it's Snarry, that's all the celebration we need.

Posting for both the Honeydukes Deluxe and the Sampler will begin Dec 1. We hope you'll join us.

"First Time For Everything" Fest is an anonymous, one-shot, theme-based fic and art fest hosted at snape_potter on LJ, IJ, and DW. And, no! Not necessarily that first time (though it can be). It doesn't even have to be the first time our guys tried a particular sexual activity or position. First day on the job where Harry is Severus's supervisor, first time Severus agreed with Harry on anything, or the first time Severus picked up the tab on a date with Harry. There is no guarantee that your story will get recorded if offered, but the more offers the better chances that ANY Snarry gets produced. Any rating, any length, any genre. However, since Easter is earlier this year and we feel we've more than resurrected the Snarry around here ;D, your mods have to decided to push the date back until mid-April for this round. Posting will begin April 15 because there are only 3 certainties in life: death, taxes, and Snarry. ;D

The Call for Prompts begins Monday, January 28!

In just a short time on Monday, October 15, posting for the Severus/Harry Big Bang will begin and we couldn't be more thrilled with the entries. Your writers and artists have been hard at work on these entries since March and we have a total of twenty-five fabulous fics, all complete with amazing art.

None of us are paid to do this, and while we all enjoy making art or writing stories, we are also encouraged by feedback. It helps us continue with what we do; it makes us feel like our efforts are appreciated and valued, makes us strive to improve ourselves, and in the long run, it gives all of us more to see and read. The best way to show our appreciation to an author or artist is to leave feedback on what we have seen and enjoyed.

We all understand the reasons some people don't comment on works they enjoyed and no one is required to do so. It takes time and thought, and sometimes we don't think we can express our appreciation adequately so we don't say anything at all. But please don't let that stop you. There is always something you can say when you have enjoyed certain aspects of a story or piece of art. It's a way of celebrating the pairing. And at snape_potter we are all about celebrating all the various flavors of Snarry be they dark or light, fluffy or plotty, romantic or angsty, or any combination of the preceding.

Our participants welcome squee as well as thought-out replies for both fic and art. Show us that you're up to the challenge; comment on as many entries as you can. Show the authors and artists your appreciation and support and encourage them to keep coming back to our pairing.

And because this is a celebration in every sense of the word and because we want to encourage people to have fun, those of you who comment are eligible to win prizes. The contest begins on October 15 and ends at midnight (EST) on November 19, giving everyone over one full month to read, view, and comment on the entries.

There are 4 prizes:
•Top Three Commenters
•Luck of the Draw

And what are those prizes? In alphabetical order:

•A short, original Snarry fic (approx 1,500-2k words) or drabble series written to your specifications by deirdre_aithne.
•A short, original Snarry fic (approx 1,500-2k words) or drabble series written to your specifications by starcrossedgirl.
•Traditional media or digital art created to your specifications by Severus/Harry Big Bang Art Co-Captain, tripperfunster.
•Traditional media or digital art created to your specifications by Severus/Harry Big Bang Art Co-Captain, veridari.

The rules are simple. For the "Top Three Comments Overall" prizes we'll count one comment per person per Big Bang entry, as long as it refers specifically to the creation so it's clear you have read/viewed the entry. The top three commenters will each win. In the event of a threesome or moresome threeway tie, names will be placed into the Goblet of Fire and the winners drawn at random from that.

Because we understand not everyone will be able to read all the entries, for the "Luck of the Draw" prize we will be placing the names of everyone who comments to any Big Bang entry using the above rules into the Goblet of Fire. That means someone who made only one comment at the fest could potentially win a prize—though your odds of being selected increase with each comment, as your name will be entered once for each comment to a maximum number of BB entries which is twenty-five.

Similar to a charity auction, when the winners are announced in November, they can make their requests to the designated author or artist and it will be delivered in a timely manner but when it is convenient to both parties.

You don't need to be a member of Insane Journal, Live Journal, or Dreamwidth to participate and everyone EXCEPT the mods (accioslash & torino10154) are eligible to participate. People without accounts show as anonymous reviewers and the mods will unscreen the replies. Anonymous reviewers who sign their posts with any form of identifying information (screen name, Tumblr handle, initials) are just as eligible for the prizes as the Insane Journal, Live Journal, or Dreamwidth members.

Please remember: We're all here to have fun and we consider these prizes similar to door prizes. And even though not everyone can win one of those, we all still get a fabulous prize: the wonderful entries in the fest! Enjoy!

The "One Size Fits All Snarry Fans" Fest
Last year we had a blast with both Secret Snarry and Snarry Swap, and while two months of solid Snarry may sound like a dream come true, with all the stress and bustle that comes with the holiday season we decided that the best solution for both participants and readers would be for us to combine the fests into one big holiday celebration with gifts of all sizes to please any Snarry fan. Therefore, we are announcing the creation of "Secret Snarry Swap". Secret Snarry Swap is an anonymous, double-blind fic and art exchange fest hosted by snape_potter. All entries will be cross-posted directly to snape_potter on LJ, IJ, and DW.

And how is Secret Snarry Swap different from previous holiday fests at snape_potter, you ask? There are two levels of participation to this fest. For those who prefer longer, more fleshed-out works (5,000 or more word fic, detailed color, or multi-panel art) there is The Honeydukes Deluxe. These are traditionally the type of entries you would find at Snarry Swap.

And the second level of participation is The Honeydukes Sampler. We know that a number of our members are busy working on their Severus/Harry Big Bang entries *dances*, so keep on working and don't mind us. ;D But for all the rest of us who are refreshing our flists continuously looking for MOAR Snarry goodness because October seems like a very long time to wait, this post may be for you. *g*

The Call for Prompts begins Monday, February 13!

One of the more popular suggestions from the feedback poll we posted at the end of last year was that we host a Big Bang in place of one of our annual Snarry fests. Since our Autumn fest has a revolving theme, this year the Autumn fest will be the Severus/Harry Big Bang. You can find detailed information here.

Like all the other Autumn fests, this is a one time only fest and will not be repeated here at snape_potter. While we will not be adhering to the strict definition of a Big Bang which requires fic to be a minimum of 50k, we will be requiring a minimum length of 12k for O.W.L. level participants and 25k for participants who will be trying for their N.E.W.T.s.

Since the goal of the Severus/Harry Big Bang is the creation of longer fics that focus on the relationship between our favourite Potions Master and the Chosen One, we will be holding sign-ups for our Autumn fest far earlier than usual to allow both authors and artists enough time to create something truly special.
