Spotify recommended some random k-pop girl group to me the other day and I haven't stopped listening to it yet and I'm no longer sure that I'm enjoying it in an ironic fashion ://

I am finally feeling better!!! These flu seasons huh, just so hard.

Thankfully, I am back on my feet as we approach the beginning of October! Which means planning for pumpkin everything!

There will be a plan for trick or treating put into effect, I think parents are a tiny bit wary right now, so we're fielding a bunch of questions at work. That did not help me get better quicker.

But gosh! I love October! I can't wait to get spooky!

Okay so, I'm not a big Pumpkin Spice person. It's nothing personal against pumpkins, or people who like them it's just like, not my jam. But does anyone have any other favourite foods that they associate with Fall/Autumn? Even if the weather is still warm for a while, I feel like I want some more food ideas.

September 5th - 6th, weekend, y'all got any plans or do you wanna see the beach with me?

I can't believe that summer is almost over already! But at the same time that means fall is coming!!! Literally my favourite season.

This whole week we're doing a supplies drive for the kids going back to school. We're hoping to make up a backpack full of supplies for every child in the community so that they've got all the material they need to go back or start school with everything they'll need to thrive.

Donations can be made at the Town Hall, we will be running the event from now until the week the kids return to school at the end of August. We're also planning one more trip before schools start back so keep an eye out to come along with us!

So... other than The Lookout, what other fun things are there to do in this place? Being a recent transplant, I can't exactly keep going to the bar and getting drunk, now can I? I totally can, but still...

Hey everyone! So this Sunday, the summer camp is going to be hosting a crafty afternoon of pour painting, hosted on the grounds of St. Verdiana's church. We'll be providing canvases of varied sizes and loads of paints, pouring medium, silicone, alcohol and different objects that can be used to apply the paint.

We've rented an open event tent, so there will be shade, but please make sure you bring a water bottle (it's better for the environment!) and sunscreen because we will be outside for most of the day! There'll be a picnic lunch in the afternoon, so if you're interested please let me know if you have any dietary needs or restrictions.

Because the activity will be free for the summer camp kids, we'll be collecting $20 from all the adults and other people who want to sign up. That'll go towards the lunch, tent rental and art supplies. We'd also accept donations! Please sign up below and I'll add you to the list.

What's the best kind of pet to beat loneliness?

Okay I've got an idea for a thing we could do that might be awesome or might be terrible:

Pour painting!

We could do it outside on those foldable plastic tables and use non-toxic paints so we won't cry when all the paint goes everywhere, and we could maybe open it up like we did the aquarium? Have townie participants pay a fee that'll help us cover all the costs?

Thoughts? Validation of my unexplainable desire to stick my hand into some paint?

Full moons really do bring out the crazy in some people.

Currently nursing a sizable bruise from interrupting a domestic during a response to a lawn fire which later turned out to be the result of a very angry wife unleashing a ton of lighter fluid on her husband's collection of pornography because apparently he pays more attention to that than he does to her.

I'd like to point out that this was only the first of many batshit crazy calls.

Aquarium trip on Thursday!

Oh gosh I'm so excited! The kids are so excited! We've rented a coach to take us to Boone, it's about a 30 minute drive. The kids that are going have already filled out their forms and there's still 10 spaces for anyone else who wants to join us!!!

For anyone under 20, it's free! Over 20 and there is a $10 charge for admission and lunch but aside from that it's going to be an amazing trip!

Coach leaves from Town Hall at 8am sharp so that we can get to the Aquarium before 9am, lunch will be at 12, there's going to be two presentations including a feeding of some turtles which will be amazing! We'll be home by 6pm.

I did not think that of all places in the world that I'd come face to face with Asher Beckett it would be a small town in North Carolina.

Been following his podcast for years, one of the reasons I'm here in fact.

I'm totally going to need to find a job.

Now, with the Summer Fete wrapped up, a huge thank you to all the vendors, entertainment and volunteers who helped make it happen!!! It's always nice to see a successful demonstration on community spirit in the area and how everyone can enjoy the best that our lovely little town has to offer!

An even bigger thanks to the Sheriff station, fire department and all of the medical staff for their tireless work throughout the week.

The summer supervision classes for those aged between three and fifteen start on Monday at the Town Hall, drop off your kids for our fun and exciting summer adventures between 11am and 3pm! Wednesday's class are going for a hike in the Blue Ridge Mountains with the tour guide department, so remember to pack for walking and send them off with a packed lunch!
