The Halls of Fate, Part Five
(Fewer scans equals less worktime, ahahaha.)

In our last chapter, we had a rescue mission and a history lesson. This time, we get a chapter so brief that it's practically a footnote, a metaphysical entity gone batshit insane, and the first casualties of the upcoming Infinite Crisis. Seven scans from JSA #74-80.

The Halls of Fate, Part Four
In our last chapter, Hector was subjected to bodysnatching, psychic intervention, ancient wizard dickery, and finally found a long lost someone. In this chapter, we get two reunions, a fight, and a lot of history hopscotching between DC and Vertigo. Twenty-five pages from six issues, spread out over JSA, Infinity Inc., and Sandman.

Also features the second-creepiest panel of Hector ever.

The Halls of Fate, Part Three
In the last chapter of our merry tale of What The Hell, we were treated to a boatload of genetic and esoterical confusion, courtesy of the Hawkfamily, a demon, a wizard, and Dove. In this chapter, we get more build up, a lot of supposed therapy... oh, and plotholes. Big ones. But after the first two chapters, you should have seen that last one coming. Twenty three pages from six issues. I tried this time to limit the ranting. Sort of.

Randomness Week - Starman
If we're doing random dialogue week, props have gotta be given to Starman of the current Justice Society title. With a mix of a time-traveler's future knowledge, the inappropriate timing of the mentally ill, and word salad phrasing, he can be a joy to read.

Here are two pages from Justice Society of America #2. Context: Mr. America's dead body has just crashed through the skylight and landed on the JSA conference table in the middle of a meeting; the JSA does not at this point know very much about its new Starman.

The Halls of Fate, Part Two
(Now with 30% more ranting!)

In the first chapter of our story, Doctor Fate was reincarnated as someone several of the older JSA members knew well. In this chapter, we get a quest, a resurrection, and some nice, old fashioned WTF. Forty pages spread out over JSA #8-#46.

The Halls of Fate, Part One
(yes, I know, bad pun, shut up)

Anyway.

After the events of Gaiman's Sandman, it's revealed in JSA Secret Files and Origins that Wesley Dodds, the man who fought crime under the name Sandman in the 40s, still retains the "gift" of prophetic dreams that he gained in his encounter with Morpheus. And so our story begins with a death, a murder, and a reincarnation.

Thirty two total pages from Secret Files, and JSA #1-4. So very not dialup friendly.

JSA vs. Kobra #3 Preview up on Newsarama
More of the awesome the series has been giving out plus a fun little thing I loved to see in the story.

P.S. I'm still in Greece but thankfully my cousins have a comp I can use.

Sharing is Love and So is JSA
I've been mulling over getting JSA for quite some time. JSA 'Darkness Falls' was proof that hesitation was silliness on my part. In the featured scans from the graphic novel there is subtext, Awesome Dinah, Wildcat on the phone with Selina and Jay being just wonderful!
Possible NSFW if Wildcat in a bathtub or towel counts as such for your place of employment.

Added point is this is not even close to 1/4 of the awesome to be found in this graphic novel, so very worth it!

JSA #27
So, it looks like Jerry Ordway's going to be doing at least one JSA arc (writing and art both, possibly -- definitely for this first issue) before Willingham takes over.

GOOD.

The mere beginnings of the plot that we see in this issue still appear to be of much higher quality than what Geoff Johns produced in his final throes on the title.

I'm just going to post the first 4 pages, because the rest are so intertwined that cherry-picking anything from them would require tons of explanation that I don't have time to write up.

Atom Smasher talks about his personal history over drinks with someone I bet most of you won't expect... )
