09:35 pm [dr_hermes] [Link]	Oh, all right, I suppose I'll have a secret identity For years, the official word on the original Flash was that he didn't need to wear a mask because he constantly kept up a state of vibration that blurred his features enough to make them unrecognizable. This never seemed plausible to me, anyway; depending on how automatic vibrating your face could be (would it be like constantly blinking fast every time you're in public?), the Flash was knocked unconscious or gassed or drugged plenty of times in those Golden Age stories, so crooks got a good long look at his mug. (Later, around 1978, Jay Garrick publicly announced his true identity, being semi-retired anyway.The funny part is that, in the early stories following his origin, Jay not only didn't try to conceal his powers as his civilian self, he went out of his way to flaunt them in front of crowds. This sure seems understandable; he was a college student, a young man suddenly given an astonishing gift and how many people of that age would not want to show it off? In this chapter, we get two reunions, a fight, and a lot of history hopscotching between DC and Vertigo. Twenty-five pages from six issues, spread out over JSA, Infinity Inc., and Sandman. Also features the second-creepiest panel of Hector ever. In this chapter, we get more build up, a lot of supposed therapy... oh, and plotholes. Big ones. But after the first two chapters, you should have seen that last one coming. 08:20 am [zegas] [Link]	Giant Size Hernandez Bros. TWO! About a year ago, I posted my very first Master Post entry back on scans_daily. It was Giant Size Hernandez Bros. (http://master-post.livejournal.com/652.html#cutid1 ) and it was incedibly fun to do. I was celebrating the release of their latest Love & Rockets volume. Well, the second issue just came out and what can I say? It’s fantastic. I think every time one of these books hits the shelves there should be a parade or some sort of citywide festival. It’s no less than what the Bros.deserve, right? I’m only one person, though, and this Master Post is my humble contribution. HINT: it's got tons of superheroes. This is a huge post so I’ll keep my dumb mouth shut for the most part. Like last time, I appreciate the present by looking back into some lesser seen gems of the past. After the events of Gaiman's Sandman, it's revealed in JSA Secret Files and Origins that Wesley Dodds, the man who fought crime under the name Sandman in the 40s, still retains the "gift" of prophetic dreams that he gained in his encounter with Morpheus. And so our story begins with a death, a murder, and a reincarnation. Thirty two total pages from Secret Files, and JSA #1-4. So very not dialup friendly. In the featured scans from the graphic novel there is subtext, Awesome Dinah, Wildcat on the phone with Selina and Jay being just wonderful! Possible NSFW if Wildcat in a bathtub or towel counts as such for your place of employment. Yesterday I posted One Perfect Moment of the Pied Piper and was asked to post a few of his "power of music" moments. ( Two scans of 'Piper is a better musician than Superman' behind the cut ) I must also thank Icon_UK for posting One Perfect Coming-out, which has long been hailed as a perfect example of how to handle such a moment.
