Okay, that's just annoying.

NuSpidey & NuBlack Cat: No rape, no racism ...
... Just good old-fashioned misogyny, courtesy of Joe Kelly's writing in Amazing Spider-Man #607, which opens exactly as everyone expected it to:

DC & Marvel samples
Untitled-13

Inspired by a recent back-and-forth I had with fellow Johnny Go aka “thehefner” on LJ, I've decided to take a trip down memory lane and embarrass myself in the process. For the first time and quite possibly for the last, I'm posting some of the comic book samples I created in hopes of becoming a professional cartoonist well over a decade ago. Just thinking about the process makes me cringe but in retrospect, these crude examples yield amusing results.

This is uncommon fare for s_d, but I thought it’d be amusing at the very least. Chalk it up to decade old fan art. Tons of scans of the source material behind the cut.

Batman, Preacher & Daredevil… butchered! )

Sam Lane: To Death and Back

With Sam Lane showing up in the Superman books again, I thought I'd post how he apparently died and when he first came back.

Supplementary Tomorrow Woman post
Aside from what I've shown of Tomorrow Woman in my previous (not so mega) mega post

http://asylums.insanejournal.com/scans_daily/53647.html#cutid1

She's made two more cameo appearances that I hadn't included in my original post, one most people might have seen since it was in 52 but another that was in a much less known little story

Just a little going away post for SD since I'm going on vacation to visit my family in Greece for a month tomorrow afternoon.. Nothing like Tomorrow.

Comics you really should read...

I'm in the process of dredging up a couple old recommendations of mine.

First on the list is JLA: The Obsidian Age. This was the crowning point of Joe Kelly and Doug Mahnke's run on JLA, a few years before Infinite Crisis. A mega-arc so big it took two trades to complete, this story could have been even better than it was. A little more refinement, a little more thought during the writing process, and Kelly would have crafted a masterpiece.

*sigh* Ah, well. Even the flawed version that we got was tons of fun.

Time travel, sorcery, and a substitute JLA (consisting of Nightwing, Green Arrow, Major Disaster, the Atom, Hawkgirl, Jason Blood, Zatanna, and others) stepping in to deal with a present-day crisis while the 'regular' JLA was dealing with a threat in 1000 B.C...that period's version of a Justice League (hereafter dubbed as the "Ancient League"), based out of ancient Atlantis, and acting under the impression "our" JLA intended to destroy the world. I'm just going to post the beginning...

JLA v3: 7 pages from #66, 7 pages from #67, one from #70, two from #72. )

Gratuitous Logurt post.
Because a person asked for more of Logan/Kurt and because I want to, here are some random scans of the two going into conniptions over each other's safety:

DCU Holiday Special
As requested by [info]ladymirth, scans from last years DC Holiday Special.

In A Day Without Sirens, there are posters up advertising a day without guns, knives, etc. Despite Jim Gordon's complete disbelief, there are 24 hours without a single 911 call and a downtrodden Jim is much cheerier when he meets Batman, who seems quite happy himself.

In It's a Wonderful Night, Dick runs into trouble while trying to hand deliver a special present for Tim. He then discovers Tim with Owen Mercer at a showing of 'It's A Wonderful Life'.

In The Night Before Christmas, the Teen Titans take a christmas break and go hang out. Tim is a bit emo and he and Cassie reflect at Rockerfeller Centre.

In Party Animal, John Stewart (Green Lantern) and Roy Harper (Red Arrow), are late for the Christmas party, which even Batman is attending. They bring Shaggy Man along to give S.T.A.R labs a break, who gets spooked by the singing. Let's face it, you would too. It all ends with a good partying.

Amazing Spider-man 598, The Power of Harry eyelashes
Harry get in touch with his inner beauty. I swear, look at the third panel, look like he checking himself out in the mirror wondering if beauty enough, and those lips. I like the artist athough. Also is it me or everyone with has a Great Teacher Onizuka face, you know, the one with the lips when someone is trying to look pissed but funny.

One Perfect Moment: Batman
JLA #65 focuses on Plastic Man and Batman; at the beginning of the issue, Plas asks Batman for his help dealing with the son of an ex, a kid who's fallen in with a gang. Specifically, Plas asks Batman to scare the kid straight.

It may come as odd that in an issue that's one of the closest things to "one perfect issue" I've read, I'm choosing one of maybe the smallest moments here. Maybe it raises more questions than it answers, as well.

Enginehead #6
The following is my most favorite, most perfect DC moment of all times. It's my favorite comic page ever, from my favorite comic series of all times. It likely won't make much sense out of context, but it's the only page I have scanned from Enginehead. Enjoy.
