Saiyuki 100 Word Challenge

Sanzo-ikkou admired all the green leaves and grasses last week for 10 points.  Homura-tachi is color blind and the kou-tachi have better things to do.

This week's prompt is #22 - Gold

This is the third installment of our color challenges.  

Gold can be a precious commodity, it is the color of Goku's eyes, the color of the sun.  There are goldfish, gold-diggers, goldsmiths, golden opportunities, golden rules.

Does Hakkai see the demon behind Goku's eyes?  Does Gojyo hate gold-digging women? Has the golden opportunity come to Homura in his quest to create a new world? Is Goku's limiter a heavy golden weight? 

Whatever you choose, write it gold in just 100 words.

Sanzo takes first watch, resting beside the fire his companions sleep around.

Goku sleeps beside him, peaceful despite his snoring. The fire reflects on his golden diadem and Sanzo swears he can see the power that slumbers beneath the limiter.

He his distracted by lights that flicker to his left. Fireflies join with the embers of their campfire, life and death flitting in the air.

Memories of their journey hover at the edge of meditative awareness.

Sanzo watches a firefly land on Goku’s limiter and he lightly brushes it aside.

By the glow of the fireflies, he prays for strength.
