Theo grabbed his key before heading out, feet shoved into his boots and phone in his jeans. He was tempted to check to see if Dustin said anything else, but at the same time he was going as quickly as he could to get to Dustin’s room, hopefully without being seen, and deal with this in person. Because that was how it needed to be dealt with.

Setting: Cabin, morning of New Years Day

Theo woke up pressed between warm bodies, feeling amazing all around. He shifted, looking at the two of them then snuck his way out of bed, leaving a note that he was downstairs, and fished around until he found his boxers and his shirt. He wanted to grab something of Dustin’s, but thought better of it before padding downstairs, yawning and heading for the kitchen. Leave it to Alex, there was great spread for breakfast, and he grabbed himself some toast and a cup of coffee, going with just that until he spotted a flash of red hair on the couch. He poured a second cup, the way Alex liked it, and headed that way nudging his friend with his toe and setting the mug within smelling distance.

As the sun sets on New Year’s Eve, the party starts at the cabin in the woods, reserved for Alex’s close friends and family. There’s food spread throughout the kitchen, horderves enough to make a meal for anyone that wants to, and more to drink than they can possibly ever go through-- Champagne, of course, but also wine, beer, and liquor for anyone that wants to make their own cocktail. There’s also sodas and sparkling cider, for those that choose not to partake.

On the tables are hats, crowns, noisemakers, and glasses; all the wild embellishments needed to welcome in the new year. Music plays throughout the house, including the lower level where the hot tub steams beneath the covered porch. There’s games on the tables for anyone that’s interested.

Alex bounces around the party in jeans and a half-buttoned dress shirt, a sparkly gold hat on his head. He’s made sure there’s a bed for each of his guests, even if that means he sleeps on the couch himself. Come morning, there’s coffee and a continental breakfast before everyone heads back to the ship.

Hey guys! I'm looking at putting together something for New Year's Eve. I have one vote for something involving a hot tub, so I was thinking about renting out one of those log cabins for the night. Let me know if you're interested and if you're bringing friends. I'll try to get enough rooms that people can crash there if they want to. Are you in?

It was late when Alex’s doctor sent him home and instead of going back to his rooms he wandered further down into the staff areas of the boat. His first stop was Dustin’s room, but Dustin wasn’t in his room, so Theo went to the only other place he might be. The guy at the office gave him a look, clearly unimpressed by Theo’s borrowed Marine hoodie and sweats with untied boots, but he at least let him into the security office. Theo was relieved to find Dustin there, grabbing a spare chair and rolling it up to where Dustin was. “Hey,” he said, dropping into it.

Dustin hadn't been expecting visitors, especially at work, so when he saw Theo, he was immediately a little worried. Especially with the recent disciplinary hearing and all, this was...well. Something. He sat up straighter from where he was at his desk. He'd been going over potential security issues with their next stop, wanting to get that all worked out well before they arrived. “Hey,” he greeted back, looking at Theo as he put his pen down. “...everything okay?” he asked, because Dustin didn't beat around the bush very well. At least in person. Over text he could a little.

In the time since Alex had been admitted to the med bay, he’d had time to take a decent nap and still fill up the first ten pages of his journal. It had been hard to get started, to figure out where he should even begin, but once he’d started laying out his thoughts he’d found it much easier to keep going. The mess in his head was just as much a mess on paper, but at least it was something he could sort through. He scribbled a few more down as he waited for Theo, back against the wall and bare feet pulled up on the bed. He’d changed a few hours ago, flannels pajama bottoms with a college soccer t-shirt, from when he was planning on going to bed early, but this was more important.

The knighting ceremony for Sebastian Ellison takes place not long after the boat leaves for open waters. The ceremony itself is done on a raised stage in the middle of the Atrium of the ship. It's a formal sort of thing, Prince Andrew presides, done up in his military dress blues, with a small crown tucked into his red locks. His brother and sister are with him, seated on the stage.

There are seats for those invited facing the stage, but anyone who wishes to attend can, and people lean against the railings of the open foyer of the boat to watch the process.

There's a reception afterwards in celebration of the newly minted Sir Ellison, but it's invite only and at the Royal Club. The list is limited to close family friends and guests of political or financial note. Drinks and food will be provided.
