After the storm, it was clear that the poolside deck and grill area had taken some damage. Silas had been sitting at a table near the railing for over an hour, barely noticing staff members that had been mopping the deck area nearby and hauling away several broken chairs. There was a limited selection of food to choose from as the grill area was set to rights, and on the edge of Silas’s table was a paper bowl of fries and a soda. On the rest of the table area was the diagram he was working on. Silas wasn’t an artist by any stretch of the imagination, but that didn’t matter for what he was trying to get across. He was working on a map of all the exits, the stairwells, the location of the lifeboats. Every place on the ship where it might be possible to hole up. It was just for him, to keep in his cabin, to possibly feel safer.

The ocean breeze ruffled his hair but didn’t displace the art pencil he had behind one ear. There was another in his hand, and he sketched busily, occasionally reaching for a fry.

Post storm hangover beings - now. I'm all cuddled up watching movies today and looking for amusement. Finish this sentence for me. The best thing about the movie, Heathers, is... GO!

I lived. Am hungover, but I lived. I need something for this headache and probably a comb for the fur that seems to coat my tongue... ugh...

Setting: the beach party

Lucy was laughing after she got out of the water, yellow bikini standing out against her pale skin and dark hair. She'd worn sunscreen all day, which meant that as the sun sank lower, she only had a few spaces flecked with the red of a sunburn. Her mother would have been scandalized, the darker tinge her pale skin was already starting to take on, but Lucy couldn't bring herself to care. Not with the water so bright. She'd even tried her hand at surfing, though found she liked just splashing in the waves better.

She shook her hair out, and pulled it up in a messy bun. She grabbed her cover up from where she'd left it, sitting on the towel she had laid out with a bright grin. "I have to admit, this is such fun," she greeted the person next to her. Fun was a new thing for her. It made her light up, feeling alive for the first time...ever.
