What a match, yes?

And I can finally say it here, since the ad will be in tomorrow's Prophet.

I am flipping off the bird.

Which is to say I have accepted an offer to be employed as, and only as, Montrose's Ass Coach for the next season, and hopefully indefinitely after that.

So starting tomorrow, we'll be looking for a new Magpie. Must enjoy sweating in a giant woolen bird costume for up to 24 hours at a time. Don't all rush at once, we'll consider any and all resumes in due time.

[Magpie players + Gregor]
I have a proposition for all of you. Stop what you're doing immediately, this is more important.

As some of you may know, I lost my last girlfriend in the wilds of Canada during my holiday by the sea a few years back. Dinna fash, I'm fine, it's onward and upward for Angus Campbell. The trouble is now I've come back from that I'm getting a bit long in the tooth, I live on a wee island, and for various reasons I've not been in the dating game lately. Reckon I need a wee bit of help.

I'm going to need each one of you to set me up with a woman during the next month. I dinnae have many criteria except that she should be female, single, relatively age-appropriate, not affiliated with Portree, and not deathly bored by Quid. If she should happen to be Scottish, lovely, appreciates the outdoors and the sea, and has a flush account at Gringotts, so much the better.

All right, all of ye have your assignments. Operation Forward March is go.

Good Merlin. It's been a while since I've enjoyed myself so much at a match. I can't say I wouldn't have enjoyed seeing Montrose knocked off their pedestal even more, for novelty if nothing else, but what a battle of wills regardless, and a thoroughly earned victory.

Congratulations to young Mr. Wood on making it through in one piece, kudos to Mr. Draganov on your extreme versatility, and I hope Mr. Maddock's recovery goes quickly and smoothly. They'll be needing you for the playoffs, as well as for the Neep.

Thank you for showing us what a contest actually looks like. I think there were a few teams that needed the reminder.

IC/OOC: The British and Irish Quidditch League Quarterly Commissioners' Meeting: Jan 30, 2018

Because of the size of the crowd, the BIQL Commissioners' Meeting had been moved to the first floor meeting room. It was drafty, and cold, and only barely suitable, but it was large enough for everyone who wanted to see the meeting to be allowed in.

In addition to all the regulars, Fraser noted the attendance of several people he'd identified as team management from other districts.

The meeting began and Fraser let the beuraucratic niceties flow around him. The roll was taken, a quorum was present. The minutes were read and approved. The agenda was discussed and approved. The January meeting was normally quiet, because nothing much was ever done mid-season, but this one looked exciting, or it looked exciting enough to draw a crowd. In addition to the usual quidditch press, there were some international reporters present.

Whatever they did, it was going to be noticed.

OOC: BIQL is democratic! After each section/speech, feel free to ask questions.

At what point have I lived in the wizarding world long enough to tell the lot of you that the ballpoint pen is nearly sixty years old and is not a technology to be afraid of? If you dislike the idea of brios, may I suggest fountain pens with refillable chambers have been in existence since the 1850s. Heck, even dip pens are better than quills. Less likely to get broken.

This is brought to you by the fact that I am pretty sure I've gone through half a dozen quills in the last two weeks.

[Ernie]
I think I might have gone out on a date? Only I'm not sure if it was a date. But it kind of felt like a date, only we weren't the only ones who went out for a drink.

[Montrose Admin: Shona McGonagall, MG McGonagall, Florrie McGonagall, Gregor McGregor, & Admin]
I am unsure if you had been apprised or not, but in light of Mr. McEwan's sudden resignation, my mother has asked me to step in and assist the team in the PR capacity until a more permanent solution has been found. I do not wish to make the situation more difficult than it already is, so please let me know how I may best be of service. Is there anything specific I should be made aware.

For the time being I have refrained from making an announcement to the players a whole until I was sure you had been made aware.

[Gwen Miracle]
I understand how busy your schedule must be, but would you be able to spare some time to speak with me. As you may or may not know, Mr. McEwan has left Montrose and in the meantime, I have stepped in to assist the team until a new person can fill the role of Public Relations. I was hoping that you may be able to provide me with some insight into the position.
