Good Merlin. It's been a while since I've enjoyed myself so much at a match. I can't say I wouldn't have enjoyed seeing Montrose knocked off their pedestal even more, for novelty if nothing else, but what a battle of wills regardless, and a thoroughly earned victory.

Congratulations to young Mr. Wood on making it through in one piece, kudos to Mr. Draganov on your extreme versatility, and I hope Mr. Maddock's recovery goes quickly and smoothly. They'll be needing you for the playoffs, as well as for the Neep.

Thank you for showing us what a contest actually looks like. I think there were a few teams that needed the reminder.

[Morven]
Desai managed to elude me, but I was able to pick Lazarus' brain a bit before we all got distracted. Might be worth following up with later. He's very concerned by the Banchory business, as well he might be.

On the subject of commissioners, while I still think it unlikely Ransom will be as shameless as the Macmillans, there's some evidence he'd consider pulling from the Portree Parkinson's side of the family. But those hints may actually relate to the import himself. Even you must admit that Pride are endlessly chaotic these days, which doesn't appeal to all, and even with Ives as coach Wigtown's not too soft for a retributive steal. Of course, that would involve cutting or demoting my niece, which would be very foolish indeed.

A better option would be one of Wigtown's staff. Admin most likely but I've put together a list of possibilities which I'll give you tomorrow. Included are some Parkin cousins of varying closeness, detailed on the list of course. More information available if desired. Should be an easy sell.

Did you hear about Wood Sr. holding court in the stands? Quite entertaining, but potentially useful.

We live to play another day and try to continue our streak. I'm glad you enjoyed it, because that was quite a wild ride being in the middle of it.

I can well imagine. Wondered how you were going to get out of that seeker ejection.

Well I didn't want anyone to think that taking out our seeker was enough to make us throw in the towel. A reporter after the match did ask why I hadn't.

Had this reporter ever met you before?

He must've been confusing me for another coach!

Must be a new one then.

Only explanation. At least that match was one for the books.

A noteworthy match in a season brimming with them.

Have we forgotten that first bloc? Or even really the second with those impressively low scoring matches. Although maybe they were noteworthy for being...unimpressive and forgettable. Thankfully things have picked up.

We take on Wigtown and the non-Desmond Parkins next, keep an eye out.

Either someone will call for that rule to be struck, or it'll get used twice a season from here on out. Or both.

If I were less bird-brained, I'd be thinking of a playbook for coaches that consisted of "How to Apply Each of the Rules of Quidditch" and I'd never be out of work.

Frankly, we'll be lucky if it's only twice.

If you give it to everyone, you lose your advantage. Make the playbook, but keep it with you and only share with Montrose. Job security.

I'm sure the high street bookmakers are already figuring the odds on how many times it will be called in 2000-2001.

Anyone who has both seeker and (beater or chaser) experience is likely to be renegotiating their contract during the off-season.

I'd be surprised if QUABBLE didn't want to set a minimum salary for dual-role players.
