Georgi broke things off with me yesterday afternoon.
Apparently he's getting disinherited by his stodgy family for wearing pink and supporting Uplift. I don't care about him getting disinherited, and told him I wanted to marry him anyhow. The money isn't the issue and if his parents want to blast him off some tapestry for being friends with his own brother, that's their loss. But since he's not going to be a fancy heir any more, he doesn't want to marry me. So that's done.
I don't want to talk about it but I wanted to let everyone know now that my family knows.
Is everyone going to be at dinner tonight? I have something to tell you all and I'd rather do it at once.
Are you in the clubhouse? I'm going to come down.
OWEN MACFARLANE
Bairn's first book launch. What's the dress code? Anything I need to know? Ink magnates you need taken care of?
I've got an appointment Friday morning so I'll be a wee bit late.ALEC URQUHART:
I need your opinion on something.
YES DA! How are we celebrating you becoming the equivalent of the magical King of Scotland?
(I kid I kid)
(But you know, just between us we can pretend for the day)
Seriously Da, congrats! Big move up! Please remember the (once) little people who helped you to the top. Or well...remember the once little people you had take too much care of is more accurate.
Alright, who was in on the Scottish Minister bet? Pony up! Gina is now the first family in Scotland and I need to get her used to a certain lifestyle.
(ooc: Feel free to make up whatever not!money bet they had. The more ridic the better)
I got your owl with the lovely martenitsa and I was going to wait until my parents had talked about a good time for a visit to Malkograd to owl you back, and to send a photograph of me wearing it that you could send to Silviya along with my thanks.
I've also had your second owl and I wanted you to know that I support your decision. It's hard when you do something your parents and family don't understand, but I understand even if they don't. I have friends from school who are involved with Jason's organisation. One of them is a Muggleborn who was lucky enough to escape before he could be sent to Azkaban. I didn't know what you would think about this, so I've been hesitating about introducing you to them. I'm pleased that you're stepping up.
It's all complicated, and I know it's hard to do these things when you come from an old conservative family. If you want me to think about how to talk to your parents about this and explain to them that it doesn't mean you're abandoning them or their ways, I'll be happy to do that. And I understand that this might mean your parents blame me for how you're feeling and what you're doing and forbid the marriage. If that happens, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. For now I am glad to be your friend, either way.
Whatever you have to tell me, I promise I will keep an open mind.
Let me know how I can help. If we're to be married, we must support each other, and here I will support you as best I can.
Thanks for coming to the match, even if it wasn't much of one in some ways. I enjoyed hearing what you thought about all the plays. It's nice to have someone explain all these things to you instead of just assuming you know about them.
I'm excited about meeting your sister tomorrow and showing her around the Prophet and shopping with her a little. I'm still trying to get her an in to the WWN and we'll see how that goes.
Can I ask you a big favour? I've been trying to get to show a couple of people around the WWN for a bit tomorrow for a bit. Georgi Draganov's sister and cousin are here and I'm showing them the Prophet and I thought it would be nice to give them a look at the WWN as well. It wouldn't have to be during a show or anything, more of a quick look in and seeing what kinds of things you do. I'd owe you a big one and I'd be happy to return the favour later, during the Neep, by getting you someone who isn't even my brother for an interview. If you can't, though, of course I'll understand.
Since we're all making announcements about our love lives: I think most of you already know this but I'm formally being courted by Georgi Draganov. I know some of you will think it's dreadfully old fashioned but it's working out for us.
Don't scare him off, Hamish. (Maggie, you either, but we already had that discussion.)
I'm mildly terrified about the prospect of Georgi's sisters. I feel like things are going so well that it has to go wrong sometime and this seems like the moment.
Also, David, you did really well, and I'm sorry it took Willison leaving for you to get more air time.
