THE BALL
Who: Everyone
What: The Ball
Where: The Great Hall, outside the Great Hall and so on.
When: Halloween 2022
Rating: Nothing above R here, if you want something above that please make your own thread for it!
Status: On going.

The Professors had locked off the Great Hall right after lunch, the only people allowed in were the social committee. The girls spent the better part of the day missing classes and setting up for the ball.

Some tables were set up around the walls.

It didn't take long for everything to be in order. The girls spent the last few moments putting the touches on the food and drinks.

About an hour before the ball was to start the girls were finally done. It was a beautiful sight with ghosts everywhere, there was a stage where the two most popular bands were going to be playing. It was by far one of the more elegant balls in the past few years.

When the doors opened to allow the students in a low growl was heard before the first band took the stag in an uproar.

Once the place was crowded an announcement was made.... "Morning classes will be canceled tomorrow!"

Saxen had dragged Dustin to the ball, that wasn't anything new though, she felt like she spent half of her time dragging him to one place or the other. It wasn't that big of a problem, or anything to worry about, she just wanted him to have fun.

She walked in with him, her arm on his purely for comfort. She'd dressed them as Abigail and John Adams. The clothing was simply that of the time, classic, good, comfortable. Dustin looked good as John Adams, while Saxen felt Abigail had been a good choice for her.

She looked around with a slight sigh before speaking. "It doesn't look bad does it?" She said softly. Saxen had put a lot of work into it, although her sister would take all the credit, Saxen just made sure budgets and everything were in order.

Dustin wasn't one for the ball, normally, but this year, he felt he had to do it. Not because his sisters were there and he would have to keep an eye on them. Not because it was his last one at Hogwarts and how many others were there going to be? And not because he figured his mother would have wanted him to. No, it was because of Saxen. Not that he'd really tell her all the reasons, but part of it was because she asked him to go with her, and because she was partly running it. Also, because he wanted to be there for her. He was sick of her being upset. If he couldn't be happy and upbeat for himself, he could at least try for her.

He wasn't entirely thrilled with his stuffy costume, but Saxen looked beautiful, and was thrilled that he had complied. Walking into the ball, arm and arm with her, he had to admit--they looked good. Not as good, though, as the Great Hall did.

"Wow, Sax.." he said, looking around, then back at her. He was genuinely smiling. "This is awesome! You did an amazing job."

Fred wandered in uncomfortably. It'd never occurred to him that his shirt would be itchy. He pulled on his collar as if it were choking him. He did, however, have to admit he made a fetching pirate. He went to go grab a drink while he scanned the room for Alyssa.

Alyssa had been obsessively fixing everything to be perfect. It was a miracle she'd actually taken enough time to fix herself up nice and proper. She had appears to keep up after all, and she knew the best spells for makeup and hair. But for now, the bottom of her dress was kind of difficult to run around in. So she decided it was better to leave everything as it was... and go find Fred.

It would have been so lovely if they could have come down to the Great Hall together, but she was social committee head. She wouldn't have have worked nearly so hard, if it wasn't to prove to Saxen that she was completely capable of doing her job.

Alyssa let out a sigh and brushed her curled up hair back and she saw her sexy pirate coming into the Great Hall. She grinned widely, and made her way over to see him.

"My my Fred! Don't you look dashing," Alyssa said and she couldn't stop grinning, and touched the sleeve of his shirt, trying not to let on she was inspecting his costume. He did a very good job on finding a costume with her suggestion! She was very pleased, though Fred would have looked good in anything, at least by her opinion.

Ashley walked into the Great Hall feeling a bit awkward, as she stood around in her costume, which was a poodle skirt that was black with a blue poodle and a white button up shirt with a black sweater. She had a pair of saddle shoes on and cute little bobby socks. She wore a pair of thick, black rimmed glasses and had pulled her extremely curly blonde locks up into a ponytail with a black and blue striped bow.

Walking over to the table containing the food and drinks, she grabbed herself something to drink, as she glanced around for her baby brother and his date, also at everyone else and had a grin on her face, as she was watching everyone. Talking a sip over her drink, she sighed and began chewing on her bottom lip, as she began walked around the place, almost in a strange daze or something, but she was fine. Staying off in a corner, she scratched her cheek and kept sipping nervously on her drink.

Callidora walked into the Great hall about twenty-five minutes late. She had been all set to come--really, on demands from her mother that she go--with a date and a costume and all, but she was having last minute troubles. She didn't want to go to this dance, especially the day after her birthday. Sure, Sebastian was her friend, and at least they would enjoy it--or not enjoy it--together. Her Audrey Hepburn costume wasn't even that bad, it was simple, and black. But it was just the whole..idea of a dance that made her not want to be there.

But she was Head Girl, and she had to at least make an appearence. Wearing the gloves, shoes, hat, and black dress that her mother had sent with the costume, along with a pair of earings and pearls around her neck, she didn't look all that bad. Luckily, there was also a pair of very obnoxiously large sunglasses that went along with the costume. According to one of the girls in her dorm, it made the character, so she took that as a chance to hide. Almost like a mask--they covered half her face as it is. Entering the Great Hall, she looked around for Sebastian, or at least Ana--she wasn't sure if she wanted to see Westly. Merlin knew what he and Sage looked like.

Addison was a nervous wreck. Her stomach had been in knots all day, and this was completely unlike her. She wasn't girly; she didn't worry about dresses and hair and dances and makeup and costumes and boys. Her friends were boys. She didn't like them.

Of course, Roger was different. The only person that knew that, of course, was Dora. And that same sister was the one that helped her all night get ready. She was a bundle of nerves, getting easily upset over the littlest thing; it was driving her insane! But finally, ten minutes before the ball was going to start, she was all finished. Dora had fastened a pretty silver tiara in her head of curls, that she left down, and helped her put makeup on. They had gotten rid of the purple crown thing that had come with the dress because it was ugly. And they put fairly comfortable shoes on her, since her feet were hidden, and then got her in the ress.

When she looked in the mirror, what she saw surprisingly she liked. She was a Princess, and didn't make a half bad one. She finally got up enough courage to go down to the Great Hall to meet Roger, constantly reminding herself that she was Addison Weasley, the daughter of two of the bravest people out there. She battled bludgers daily, played sports with the best blokes out there, and could probably beat them up. Why in the bloody hell would she worry about a boy and a silly dance?

Walking into the Great Hall, she took a breath, her hands fidgiting with the fabric of her dress. It was bad enough she wasn't comfortable in anything girly, let along big and poofy, and purple. But she was doing this for Roger. Looking around, she searched for him in the sea of students.

Roger had been wondering over the last couple of minutes while waiting for Addison, where on earth his mother got his costume from. She really must have wanted him to make an impression... It was an impressive red coat, embroidered. Very fancy, and very prince like. And since Roger absolutely refused to wear tights, he just had some simple black suits pants underneath.

And contrary to public opinion, Roger actually did have to do more than just throw on his costume to get ready. He thought it better to have his hair slicked back with gel. More princely anyway. He was totally going to show Dante up as the better Prince Charming tonight.

After fixing his coat cuff, Roger looked up again for Addison, and he saw her arrive, looking lovely and purple. He smirked, already excited. But he couldn't screw anything up... there were too many people to kill him if he did.

Roger made his way through the crowd towards Addison till he caught up to her. "Evening Milday," he said smirking taking a bow in front of her. Forever the gentlemen, he lifted her hand to his lips where he kissed it. "You look lovely, My Princess."

Frank had met Darcy in the Gryffindor common room, both of them being Gryffindor's and all, ready to get down to the Great Hall. He was anxious, and excited, for many reasons. He had always liked social gathering's and school dances, oddly enough, and he was excited to see Fred's costume, and the rest of his peers and class mates. And really, what some kids had cooked up their sleeves. But also, he was excited for his "date"--if he could call it that--with Darcy. For once, he really wasn't thinking about Carmen. Sure, if he saw her tonight, with whomever she was going with and in whatever she was going as, it'd all change. But for now, he was excited.

Arm in arm with her, he had on his Captain Jack Sparrow costume, complete with eyeliner, a bandana with black dreadlocks and a hat that hid his blonde curly hair well. The boots, the pants, the sword and the jacket completed his entire ensemble, and he even had a flask attatched to his hip. Sure, it was empty--for now--but that was only because he was sure that his father would check it.

"Did I tell you that you look amazing yet?" he said to Darcy, bending his head down to speak to her. He kept his eyes in front of him, looking out for his father, brother, or sister. Really, his father. he didn't feel like having him yell at him tonight.

Dressing up was fun, specially when it was for a party/ball as big as this one. With so many people dressed up as so many different things, the night seemed to be really fun. And fun was exactly what Darcy was looking forward to having.

Clad in her pirate vixen costume, Darcy had chosen a rich shade of red for her lips, and curled her hair a little bit, giving it a natural look and making her more beautiful -- if that was even possible. She definitely looked good next to Frank; and so did he. That Captain Jack Sparrow costume was awesome, and Frank looked so good in it.

"Now you did." She repied with a smile. "And you look incredibly good... Fred's costume doesn't stand a chance."

Emily practically bounced into the Great Hall--very careful that her skirt didn't come up. She was aware that she was possibly one of the tallest girls there, being tall as it is, but now with knee high leather black high heeled boots on. She also was completely aware that she was one of the more scantily clad girls at the ball--and she would most likely be sent back to her dorm. But she didn't care. The sooner that she left the ball, the sooner her and James got to go somewhere private and continue their last escapades, that day by the lake.

Her blonde hair was curly and tossled a bit, in a sexy way that had been spent nearly two hours on, with magic, muggle products and a blow dryer, curlers, and an iron. Her makeup was done, too, as she called it, sexy, and she had on her little convict costume on. She had put on black shorts on underneath, so she really couldn't get in that much trouble, and her zipper was zipped up as high as it could go. She knew that Dylan and her other brothers were going to have a field day with it, though.

Grinning, she stood in the entranceway of the dance, looking around at everyone for James or someone she knew. Really, James. The place looked amazing, and seeing all the food and drinks and hearing the music and seeing everyone in spirit and costume was making her giddy and excited, and she really just wanted to dance.

Even if Samantha was going stag, she wasn't going to let that ruin her night. She had found a beautiful dress and she had Gianna help her with her hair a little bit. Samantha had pulled it up into a messy bun and curled some of the strands that had fallen out. She had also bought small white flowers to put in her hair as well. Hoping that she looked a little like Elizabeth Bennett from the movie version of Pride and Prejudice.

After she had gotten ready, she made her way down to the Great Hall. Following the other students, she smiled at some of her friends that she ran into, commenting on how great they looked. When she did arrive, she took a look around and couldn't believe how great the Great Hall looked.

Once the music started, she was sure what she would do. Most of the students were either in groups or with a partner. "Maybe I should just get a drink first," she muttered to herself. With a small smile to herself, she walked over to the table where they served refreshments and got herself a drink before turning back to the dance floor. Amused by some of the students.

Perhaps Braden should have braced himself a bit more before going to meet Zara. He had always thought Zara to be an extremely pretty girl, but when he met her at her common room, seeing her in that dress, every coherent thought had suddenly turned to mush. "You look beautiful, Zara," he told her, smile turning slightly sheepish. He nearly forgot to offer his arm, before they started toward the ball. The entire walk was filled with Braden trying, rather unsuccessfully to keep from staring at the lady next to him.

It was going to be a long night for poor Braden.

Passing through the doors to the Great Hall, the Gryffindor paused to admire the decorations momentarily, before looking back to his date- and he kept telling himself he shouldn't be calling her that as he was certain she had only accepted out of pity- with a small smile. "Happy Halloween, eh?" Inwardly, Braden wanted to smack himself. Apparently, adding a dress and the title of 'date' to a girl made a bloke turn into an idiot. Great.

Izzy was all excited about the ball. It took her ages to paint her face and her hands green. Then having to let it dry before putting on her Wicked Witch of the West costume. When Izzy was done, she gave herself a quick look over. In her opinion she thought she looked absolutely brilliant! It was plain and black, nothing fancy. She had to adjust it slightly to make herself look younger. Because she was going as Elphaba, from the musical Wicked. Before she turned evil.

After she was done getting ready, she skipped cheerfully to the Great Hall. Since she never got permission to sing her song on stage, she figured she'd just sing it as she entered the Great Hall. When the music started and she saw the other students dancing, even if she didn't have a partner, she went out and joined in on the fun. Dancing by yourself, while it looked odd, still could be fun.

On that day and that day only did Anastasia not mind being called her full name. Usually she thought it was too princessy and flowery to match her personality. But now she was Cinderella. Ana took about twenty to thirty minutes to wake up and get completely ready on a normal day...but on this occation, it took almost two hours. Butterflies swarmed in her stomach. The dress was perfect...if there was a level above perfect that was it.

She smoothed out her dress as she stood at the entrance of the Great Hall, looking for her Prince Charming.

Mandy was actually very excited for the ball, and extremely NERVOUS! What if Tristan changed his mind and didn't want to come with her at all? What if he actually didn't like her, though he had said... What if he got sick and something terrible happened to him!

No no, he would come and Mandy wouldn't pout about it. Well... she had enough to pout about, trying to tug down the skirt of her Fairy costume. Alice had made it longer for her, but Mandy was still a little self conscious... and she blushed as people walked by looking for her. She had her hair all up and curled, and even got some flowers from the Greenhouses to put in them. It would be a great mess to clean later, but she thought it was cute!

Mandy reached back to tug and fix her wing a bit too, before looking over to the stairs again and frowned looking for Tristan.

Tony came wandering into the Great Hall on his own, and wasn't really looking for anyone, though he did briefly wonder if Avalon had managed to find a date after all, and how Zara was doing with her date. He did not actually ask Piper Wood after all. But he couldn't tell if it was because he didn't want to or not... or it was just pure stubbornness on his part.

He got himself a drink, and went to go find a empty space to stand away from the dance floor. At least his costume was comfortable. Avalon had made sure the material wasn't itchy. It also had rather long red shorts, so it wasn't like it was just a toga. It was simply and it fit Tony perfectly.

Jacob hadn't been excited or disappointed by the ball either way. Despite much of Piper's insistence, he didn't have a date for the Halloween Ball. But he did have a costume, and he thought it was brilliant. He got the idea from when he was in his Sci-Fi phase while he was home.

He was dressed up as the Doctor from Doctor Who! And the test part was, he just needed to have the same outfit since the Doctor could look like anyone. And he'd have a good laugh if anyone asked who he was, since he'd know how they would respond if they didn't know who the Doctor was. The sad thing was he wasn't able to transfigure his wand into a sonic screwdriver...

Smirking to himself, Jacob made his way over to the refreshments table, and snatched a cup before going off to wander again.

A BALL! What could better? Could life really get better for Bryn? Probably, but that totally wasn't the point. She had a hot date, she was going as something she really didn't get, but some of the boys seemed to think it'd really work, so that was all that mattered. She wasn't even sure if her brother had a date yet, but she was still really annoyed with him and not talking to him.. So that didn't matter.

Bryn agreed to meet Jasper in front of the Great Hall, that was after all the best place to meet people! Besides she wanted to walk up to him in her Padme outfit. It was sort of weird as she didn't really get the whole idea of it. But it was pretty, and that really was all that mattered.

Bryn nearly bounced to just outside the Great Hall. She spotted Jasper and grinned as she made her way to him.

Jamison felt fucking awkward. There was no other way to put it. He'd been a total prat and avoided Dora pretty much. He joked around with her some, but he flat out pretended not to see that she might have asked him to the ball. The boy freaked, and he didn't want to lead her on, but frankly he did like her... He was just not sure what to do about it. Anything that meant he'd be locked down freaked the shit out of him.

He dressed as a really old Chelase jersey and shorts. Jamison didn't want to go to the ball, but really he went to make sure that his sister wore clothing. If not he had a blanket in his left arm as he stood at the very edge of the Great Hall feeling bloody well awkward.

Gwen was very excited about the ball, even if she didn't have a date. Who needed one anyway? She was sure she could have twice as much fun without a date thand with one. Plus, that way Cormac wouldn't have to worry about her date touching her in any inappropiate places, which she guessed were all.

After many hours and many magazines, she had finally found the perfect costume: Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. She didn't know why she hadn't thought of it sonner, seeing it was one of her favourite books. She made sure Toto was secured in the basket (she had charmed the suffed animal to bark and wag its tail every now and then) and headed to the ball. Hopefully she would run into Tony, Aaron or Piper at some point of the night. She wanted to see their costumes.

After talking with Jamison for a few, and wrapping the blanket around her, she entered the Great Hall, and knowing that she was out of sight of him. She threw it off. She grinned, but her grin faded as she set her eyes upon Frank, dancing with Darcy Warrington. Merlin was she pretty, a lot prettier than her, she went to a table and sat down. She wasn't going to let Frank ruin her night of fun. She planned on dancing and loving her life.

She stood, in her Tampa Bay outfit And began dancing by herself.

Despite the numerous encouraging comments in her journal, Elena was certain she had never felt as awkward as she did when she walked into the ball that evening. She had never been one for dresses, and there she was, walking into a room full of well-dressed people in a short- but longer than originally- skirt, a form-fitting top, and legwarmers covering the top of her black flats (the model had worn heels, but Elena wasn't crazy enough to try).

She knew the costume was cute, but, well, the costume on her? Hesitantly, she looked around the room, but found not a single person to be pointing at her, no one crinkling their nose in distate. She let out a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding in, a smile creeping upon her features as she adjusted her sparkly antannae. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all.

Rosalie slowly walked down the stairs, nervous as hell. Her Mermaid costume showed so much skin, and she was so mad at her mother for even sending this to her. Rosalie was confused, Shane kisses her, then doesn't ask her to the ball, she walked into the Great Hall, and blushed at the stares she was recieving. She went to the table and grabbed a butterbeer. She went to a table and then she saw it, Shane was with Samatha Ackerly. Wide-eyed, she sat down, clearly embarrassed. She wished someone would come and take her mind off of Shane.

Avalon had been feeling so miserable after learning her sister had a date and she didn't -- how in the world had Zara got a date before her?! Had the world gone upside down?!! -- she even thought of not going to the ball. But right when her mind was starting to come up with good reasons and excuses not to go to the ball, her knight in shinning armour came to the rescue; although there was no shinning armour, just the Slytherin colours on the school uniform. But Scorpius looked better than any knight in that.

And he surely look incredibly good in his costume, just like she did in her Cleopatra one. "I think it's safe to say we're the best dressed in the whole room." She said with a smirk on her face as she looked around the Great Hall.
