Theride to Bradford-on-Avon wasn't long per se, but it seemed longer with three kids in the back of the car. Katya and Marie were so hypped up to be going away (and on Marie's birthday) that they were engaging in the classic 'she's on my side, she's breathing on me' schtick. In fact twenty minutes into the drive they had had to pull over so James could move into the middle seat between them. Somehow separating them had worked, at least a little.

It was the second time in the space of a few days, that when someone entered the room, Joe quickly rushed to flick off the piece of technology he had been using - this time his phone. Kat, who had wandered in with her time sheet for the physical therapy session she had been running at the hospital, look up and snickered as the hinged door slammed shut behind her. "Oooh, porn on the hospital wi-fi? Nice!" she grinned, much less disturbed than Julian had been at the thought.

On Monday evening, Thomas had cleaned up after dinner and he was going to settle in for some sweet Netflix action now that the kids were in bed. There was an episode of Stranger Things calling his name. His buns hadn't even hit the sofa by the time he heard a knock on the door, however, and he groaned and flicked the telly back off.
