Theride to Bradford-on-Avon wasn't long per se, but it seemed longer with three kids in the back of the car. Katya and Marie were so hypped up to be going away (and on Marie's birthday) that they were engaging in the classic 'she's on my side, she's breathing on me' schtick. In fact twenty minutes into the drive they had had to pull over so James could move into the middle seat between them. Somehow separating them had worked, at least a little.

It was the second time in the space of a few days, that when someone entered the room, Joe quickly rushed to flick off the piece of technology he had been using - this time his phone. Kat, who had wandered in with her time sheet for the physical therapy session she had been running at the hospital, look up and snickered as the hinged door slammed shut behind her. "Oooh, porn on the hospital wi-fi? Nice!" she grinned, much less disturbed than Julian had been at the thought.

Julian opened the door, admitting Aislinn first, before stepping in behind her. The smell of dinner hit his nostrils as he helped Aislinn take her jacket off. It smelled delicious. "Boots too," Julian pointed at Aislinn's sparkly wellies before removing his own jacket. Aislinn groaned but complied. Honestly, if you let her, she would wear her sparkly wellies to bed. She loved them.

Most of the time, living with his father was really wonderful. Julian had tried flatting while he was with Damon, living with Renee and a few friends. It had been fine, but considering the loss Joe and Julian had gone through when Jordan and Jaida were taken from them so brutally, it just made sense to stick together.

There were a few occasions, however, when Julian wondered just how much sense it made for a father and son who were both adults, to share such a small space. Especially when, on days like today, he walked in early after a cancelled class and his father, sitting smack in the centre of the lounge room sofa, slammed his laptop shut.

Cai was so busy these days, and with good reason, that the moment he had a free day he had jumped at the chance to introduce his brother to the man who had come to mean so much to him. What he hadn't thought to do, however, was check to see if Thomas was busy. It was a Sunday afternoon and Danny knew Thomas' kids would be around, what he hadn't expected, was a semi-family reunion.
