Wednesday, January 11th, 2215Weather: No changes until late afternoon, when it begins to snow. It’s only light flurries for now, but harder falls are expected tomorrow morning.
Events: As far as the average citizen is concerned, it’s a quiet morning. There’s an upcoming debate this Friday evening in the Heart of Haven between Councilmembers and their opponents, and arrangements are already being made at City Hall. It appears that both Wallace and Saito will be quiet in their criticisms until then. Or will they?
At 11:07 AM, an explosion rocks the Heart of Haven. Those there will feel something like an earthquake. The surrounding districts may feel a moment of rumbling, or a distant boom. It comes from the hospital, where a bomb had gone off in the ER.
It is worth noting that initially, no one’s going to know what happened or how. The fact is at that time, there’s a large explosion, decimating the ER and causing a portion of the east wing to cave in. It’s immediate chaos. Hospital staff hurry and turn the lobby and cafeteria into a makeshift ER, while volunteers (most notably the military, law enforcement, and fire department) descend on the scene and begin the horrific work of extracting victims from the rubble. Within hours, it seems all of Haven is pulling together, and members of the Council can be seen among the volunteers.
At about six in the afternoon, a mass communication goes out from the Council to every member of Haven’s military and law enforcement on their comms. It orders the immediate arrest of Alexander Saito.
He has been pinpointed by his daughter as the bomber.
