Wednesday, January 25th, 2215Weather: No changes.
Events: With less than a week to go before the election, it is perhaps unsurprising that the two opponents are doing a bit of PR work. Several members of the council, including Kieran Sullivan, are making appearances around the city at various homes and establishments most damaged by the storm. Nothing too spectacular there; they inspect the damage, take notes, and in some cases offer up some form of compensation for losses. The most noteworthy thing about it is that they visit the slums, and it’s very rare for members of the Council to appear there. A few residents of the most severely damaged homes are given new housing, and even a little bit of money. It’s a nice, happy puff piece featuring heavily in the news.
There’s more, though. Maxwell Wallace, while extremely popular amongst the ungifted populace and slums residents, is not a particular favorite amongst the elite. He’s apparently seeking to remedy that. How do you cozy up to rich snobs? Fundraisers, of course. Invites and notices have been sent out to much of the upper class for a black tie fundraiser gala this Friday night, but seeing as it’s Wallace there’s a bit of a twist.
Any citizen of any district is welcome to attend, as long as they make a five dollar contribution at the door. There will be dinner and dancing, with all proceeds raised to be donated to the hospital rebuild efforts. The fundraiser will be held at Horizons Hall, an event center and private club in the east district.
There is a bit of news regarding their latest loss for the Diaspora today. Now that things are mostly back to normal after the maelstorm, military patrols and resource gathering groups are beginning to move again - which means information drops from Diaspora spies. Word will make it back to the camp today that Rika Underhill is on the inside of Haven, and posed as a 16-year-old. That at least explains why they took her into Haven. It may be of some comfort that she’s been accounted for and confirmed alive.
