Sunday, January 15th, 2215Weather: Finally, it’s stopped snowing. But it’s still freezing outside, so big yip.
Events: It’s back to business as usual for a lot of Haven. All military units have been ordered back to their normal duties. So, what does that mean for things at the hospital?
A lot, actually. There’s still a lot of rubble to clear, bodies to uncover, and not to mention the rebuild efforts. The hospital has done a temporary change of layout, turning one of the wards into their new ER. At 9 AM, the Council announces the more permanent plan for the hospital clearing and rebuilding efforts.
Here’s how it’s going to work. Any slums resident that has come of age can apply to be reassigned on the special hospital construction crew. On Monday morning, 500 of those applicants are going to be chosen and assigned. Their first task will be clearing the remaining debris, and then they’ll work with existing construction crews on the rebuild efforts. Salaries will be matched with what those 500 were already making at their previous jobs.
But here’s the catch. At the end of the rebuild, the top 15% of workers recommended by their supervisors will be taken into the construction field permanently, freed from their previous jobs, given a raise in salary,
and elevated to the Granite district. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for the average adult slums citizen, and you can bet those limited slots are going to be greatly coveted. Sign-ups start immediately at City Hall, and by noon the line of applicants is already wrapping around the block.
Once the 500 have been assigned on Monday, work will begin immediately, with teams working in shifts around the clock. It has also been announced Prometheus Synthetics has been selected to help with the technology to be used in the new rebuild and restoration of the hospital.
Meanwhile, back at the
ranch Diaspora camp, people are growing unsettled. The elders are usually tight-lipped about their interactions with their spies, but it hasn’t escaped their notice that something is going on in Haven. While all military was assigned to the hospital, no units were being sent beyond the wall on their routine duties. Which meant, no scheduled drops to the Diaspora from their plants. There are rumors going around that smoke was seen in Haven’s direction a few days ago, but nobody has answers. A lot of scouting groups are being sent closer to Haven than they usually dare.
