Back to Normal(ish)

Who: Clem & Rémy
Where: Claudiana's (Italian Restaurant)
When: 8:00pm

Clementine did her best not to dress up for dinner with Rémy. That didn't mean she didn't put any effort into her appearance, but she made the conscious choice to forgo the dress and heels, and wear a comfortable pair of jeans, and a light blue sweater. It was casual, and that's what Clementine was aiming for. It was mildly irksome that she was still putting any thought into this at all. Rémy was her friend, and it was going to stay that way.

When she arrived at Claudiana's, Clementine was led to a small table, where she sat and got comfortable. The restaurant wasn't terribly busy, and Clem ordered a water as she waited for Rémy to arrive. This dinner didn't have to be weird. Despite their history, all Clem really wanted was to be able to relax around him again. She wanted things back to normal. Or as normal as they could be, considering.

good deed of the day

Who: Clementine and Rémy
Where: The market
When: Afternoon

By all accounts this should be harder. Working with Clementine, let alone remaining good friends with her was painful at the best of times, but their conversation always came easily regardless. It was perhaps a testament to how long they had known each other and if Rémy really let it that would only make things worse, but he tried very hard not to. They had agreed upon bringing some helpful items to the family whose father had died on a roof collapse in the slums, and the whole tram ride to the market had been used to discuss what to buy, what the family would need, as well as how each other's day had gone and what remarkable thing the kids had said today. Not exactly an ideal topic of conversation, apart from the cute things children said sometimes, but Rémy was always delighted to talk to Clementine despite the subject. Except, perhaps, for all those conversations about his engagement. Those had been the furthest thing from delightful he could think of.

This wasn't the time to think about that, however, as somewhere in the slums a family was suffering even more than usual and Rémy really wanted to ease that pain for them. He knew one of the children, but even if he hadn't, him and Clementine might have ended up right here anyway. "So groceries, toys - maybe books for the oldest ones? - and blankets. Right?" He looked to Clementine for confirmation despite having the list firmly memorized, as he'd made it himself.
