I get so bothered about how big Hogwarts is, too. It's like this long-running thing with me. If there's 40 students in Harry's year and that's a typical number, there is no way that school is big enough to support the infrastructure that gets described in the books. There is a scene somewhere that describes the Quidditch match audience - 200 slytherins sitting alone and the other three quarters of the school doing something else, which is a more reasonable number, but then Harry's just oblivious to most of the students in his year/class/house.

I think that Sirius is very earnest and loyal, and if he's actually in a relationship, he wouldn't cheat. I think he'd see that as quite a huge betrayal. He might play around when he's not in a relationship, but once the lines are drawn he won't go over them.

It is a harsh mistress, it's true. :( XD
