Paper House — a Forbidden Game rpg

PAPER HOUSE
You're at a birthday party for your friend. She brought a game, but she can't remember where it came from. You and the others set the board and roll the die. Then everything changes and you're playing the game for real. You can't leave until you face your deepest, darkest fear. Something you haven't told anyone. Something that makes your blood run cold and your muscles tense. This a game for the Shadow Men, but not for you. The only way to win is to overcome your nightmare and make it to the top of the dollhouse. You're not alone but that's not a guarantee for survival. The clock is ticking. You only have until sunrise to finish.
Paper House is a limited-run original character role playing game based on The Forbidden Game trilogy by L. J. Smith. The game will run over the course of 24 weeks. Watchers, Please

In the beginning, there was only the Creator. And She created the world; its lands and seas, peoples and beasts. She created the Keeper, to rule over the dead. She gave the world to her people, whom She loved dearly, to do with what they would. The people multiplied, forming their cultures and societies, and were faithful to the Creator. And when there were many, the Creator made the Watchers: lesser deities to watch her people and report. You see, there are simply too many people for the Creator to keep track of, too many prayers to answer. The Watchers watch, and tell Her what her creations need.

But they speak in His ear, too.

She gave the Watchers free will, and perhaps that was Her greatest mistake. Not every Watcher is good. Not every prayer is answered by the Creator. The Keeper speaks to the Watchers, too, and He does not want for good in the realm of the living. He wants only to rule all, with the death of all things.

You, the player, are a Watcher, and the choice is up to you. Will you do good or evil? Which prayers will you answer? Which side are you on?

Watchers, Please is an original high-fantasy game in a medieval setting where the players themselves are the gods. You are a Watcher. Characters pray, and players submit requests. Every week, players will vote on which prayers and requests will be answered – and by whom, and how. How do you want to rule? Only one thing is certain: characters should be careful with what they wish for.

Amor Fati

A hundred and eighty years ago, all that once was, was lost. Only a sliver of humanity and the others that inhabited our world managed to survive. Sickness came as swiftly as the bullets and bombs that started the quick downfall, wiping out whole communities, cities, sometimes even small nations.

History went dark. No one is truly sure as to who started it or why and truth be told it doesn't matter anymore. What matters is restoring what we had lost. Most people these days have settled down. Their ancestors took over old cities, remote villages, rebuilt what was lost in the war the best they could with what little they had. There are those who don't even settle down because generations were brought up wandering and raiding, and it no longer feels right to stay rooted to one spot to them. This meager way of living isn't enough; just surviving isn't enough but there are those who think bringing back all the technology and knowledge we lost will only lead to the true end and they are violent in trying to prevent it from happening. They have burned libraries, whole towns and parts of cities to the ground for the sake of ignorance.

You could say we're not quite there yet. Civilization is a dream not entirely realised, and what little tech we have feels stone aged compared to the stories we were told of what was.

Things are changing, slowly, yet it's still a harsh world to live in and death lingers at every corner in the guise of so many things that had once been fixed.

Praestare: a preternatural roleplay

Woodhaven was established in 1542 by Pastor Abram of the Lutheran Church, when the town was built around Saint John’s Lutheran Church. In less than twenty years the town managed to quadruple it’s population and moderately wealthy in trade with lumber, coal and produce. Good fortune seems to have smiled on the residents, as there is no history of famine or plague upon record, nor aberrations in livestock.

However, the town has suffered it’s fair share of violent animal attacks or missing persons over the years. Although in the last fifty years this has grown to be far less common.

Woodhaven is not a typical tourist destination, but it still draws visitors from local nearby towns and the occasional straggler who is looking to lose themselves in Devonshire county.

ENJOY YOUR STAY

Praestare is an original character roleplay that takes place in the fictional town of Woodhaven, located in the United Kingdom. The primary focus of this game is on character development — be it through choices, relationships, or orchestrated events. This game is played in paragraph storybook format: we do not mind the use of gifs included in your thread, but no one liners, please. Currently, we’re a small group of writers looking to challenge our writing and expand our creativity with other like-minded individuals - if you think this is a good fit for you, please join us!

The Order

THE ORDER
Five hundred years ago, the island of Holuan was occupied by the Elentori Empire. The continent of Holuan was relatively small, but strategically important and abundant in resources. The fact that it was already home to many races and creatures was of no importance to the empire. The elves were driven into the forests, the dwarves underground, the dragons into the mountains. The empire fought tooth and nail for control of Holuan, determined to make it their latest jewel. A small colony of settlers became a bustling city. The emperor seated his younger brother in control of his latest province. He came to regret that choice.

Within a year brother waged war against brother. The emperor, a bloody and war-mongering individual, came to hear the whispers of his nobles. Rumors circulated that they favored deposing the tyrant in favor of the younger, fairer brother. The emperor vowed to crush his brother, but in the end Holuan proved too treacherous. The emperor chose reason over the sword, and proposed a peace treaty. He would allow Holuan to secede from the empire and set his brother on the throne of the new kingdom, but in exchange Holuan could never again take up arms against the empire. The bargain was struck, and the kingdom of Holuan was officially founded.

But some wondered how it could be so. The Empire had every possible advantage over the island. How could they be beaten as far back as a truce? The answer may surprise anyone not native to the kingdom. It was all thanks to one man and his order of followers.

The Order of Galchobhar runs strong today. Will you strike a bargain of your own?

The Order is an original high fantasy roleplay. The game is set in a fictional world, on an island continent known as Holuan. All characters are part of the mysterious Order of Galchobhar. In exchange for something they desperately needed, each and every one of them took the oath to follow Galchobhar unto their deaths. Are you ready to take the oath?

The Lost and Found

Supernaturals are in every dark corner of the world.

The world is filled with so many types of people, it seems near impossible to keep track of all of them. But that is what "They" do. It's unclear when "They" started, how "They" became so organized, but as long as anyone can remember, "They" have been there in the shadows, watching. Few people know who "They" really are, what "They" are called, but their purpose is well known throughout supernaturals; "They" keep you safe. Safe from the humans, safe from other supernatural species.

Sometimes, safe from yourself.

This is where L'académie des Objets Trouvés comes in. Affectionately called The Lost and Found, it is a school where adolescent supernaturals are taught to hone their skills, hide their telling physical attributes, and adapt to living in the world of the humans. Only .03% of the world population are supernatural, and it is only through the close monitoring and assimilation strategies of schools like this that they have continued to thrive undetected.

The Lost and Found is a supernatural school with a complicated history and an easy premise. Players can play as students or teachers, and can choose from a variety of supernatural races (or suggest their own!). Occasional school wide plots ranging from creepy to silly help keep things lively, and players always have input. Students are between the ages of 16-19, and players must be 18+ (due to mature content).

It's just like any other boarding school- grades, tests, dances, rumors, crushes, roommates, and bad cafeteria food. The only difference is here, your teacher really is a demon. Well... there is one additional difference, just a small, minor catch.

You're not allowed to leave until "They" decide you're ready.

LUNAR CRY

LUNAR CRY • A FINAL FANTASY ROLEPLAY
"The cycle of the lunar cry began tens of thousands of years ago. A traditional dance of life and death between the planet and the moon. Gravity pulls like a tide, and when the moon's surface is so saturated with creatures, it bursts and falls to the planet. It's destroyed nations many times over. It changes the creatures here for the worst, and breathes life into new and terrible dangers. We do not know all of the variables for why it occurs, and it will happen again. We most certainly are not prepared."
-Dr. Dolfo Curat, Esthar City, March 3rd 2006, on the first Anniversary of the last lunar cry.

It has been nearly ten years since the fall of the last sorceresses, and the anniversary of the last Lunar Cry approaches. The world will never forget the horrors unleashed by Ultimecia and her minions, but together they forge ahead to build a new and brighter future. Esthar has recovered from the onslaught of beasts from the moon, and has opened their borders to other nations, sharing the technological advancements they've honed over decades of isolation. Dollet has regained much of the control of the Galbadian nation as it once had, but the fragile peace is tentative at best. Timber has gained its independence, returning to full strength as a nation in its own right. The island continent of Balamb has seen a new age of development and prosperity. Balamb Garden and its heroes have moved on with their lives, celebrated across the globe for their bravery and sacrifice.

Life has become something better than normal, and not just for he fated six who saved the world. International relations are better than they have ever been. Entertainment as a commodity is no longer a foreign concept. But this peace can be nothing but short lived.

Humanity is flawed, and perhaps some cycles are doomed to repeat for a reason. Steps have been set in motion to shake the foundation of the world to its knees. The next lunar cry is coming, and it brings with it a calamity no one could begin to prepare for.

This may be the final fantasy...
Lunar Cry is a game set in the world of Final Fantasy VIII, allowing both canon characters spanning all FF games and OCs. The game is set just prior to the largest and most disastrous lunar cry the world has ever seen, and will deal with many post-apocalyptic themes.

~thecrystals: dawn of rebirth

It started with one world. Use of the crystals drew the attention of dark fiends, which led to its inhabitants increasingly seeking to conquer or destroy the planet. In response, four crystals were granted to four warriors to right the balance in the world. Though they suceeded, the world plunged into darkness again, and the gods, seeing it a failure, destroyed it and started anew. Their new creation fell to a greedy man calling forth Hell to do his bidding, and it was destroyed to prevent any other from calling the underworld to their side. Even lending their children some of their own power to prevent them from grabbing it on their own did not help when faced with a being who wanted to plunge everything into the void. That left a bad taste in their mouths, so they ended it, as well.

The creation and destruction cycle continued again and again. Over a dozen attempts later, the gods have reached a decision: They would have one final attempt to create the perfect world. Combining elements that they liked from each of their previous creations, they formed the planet and began to fill it with life. Some were souls who had made a home on other planets. Others were born onto the new world. In this attempt, the gods decided to be more directly involved in their creation with the hope that their influence would encourage their children toward the right path. Their presence, represented previously as the worlds' crystals, was now more indicative of their true nature. But, the gods are a temperamental sort...

Dawn of Rebirth is a Final Fantasy roleplay opening on October 25. Both canon and original characters are welcome from any of the games or their offshoots.

Most Wanted: High priests, summoners, Midgar royal family.

Bound Secrets: An Urban Fantasy RPG

Crescent Cove, Maine. A coastal, maritime city with hundreds of years of history, established industry and a typical, if isolated, east coast city. Beneath its outwardly normal appearance, though, it harbors dark secrets.

The real city is the one seen in the corner of your eye, the momentary reflection in the mirror, the feeling of being watched on a lonely street. Founded by witches fleeing the horrors of the Salem witch trials in the 17th century, the city has always been a beacon for the supernatural. Today, vampires, werewolves, witches and other things without names live, work, plot and scheme alongside each other, not always aware of the other but always just under the notice of the mortal world. On the fringes, mortal hunters stalk the magical and the monstrous relentlessly, driven by obsessions both pure and tainted. Greater powers, still, influence events, and an impending feeling of fate hangs over the old buildings and creaking docks of the city.

Bound Secrets is a play-by-journal roleplaying game (RPG), with an urban-fantasy setting. It features daily activity, original storylines and an open-world format. We look for quality plotting, intelligent characterization and creativity in our players, ones who are willing to help build a fun, enjoyable story and community through active participation and friendly interaction. The game is managed by mods with decades of collective experience, and receives frequent updates in terms of species on offer, locations, plotlines and more.

We always welcome new players - check out the information provided, and if it sounds like something you’d enjoy, fire off an application or contact one of the mods if you have any questions.

WELCOME TO KINGWOOD, CALIFORNIA.

The sleepy, rural town of Kingwood, California may seem like any other small town, but things are not what they appear. For in this little town in Northern California, the people that live their day to day lives, year after year, are not what they seem.

Imbued with the memories of our most beloved characters out of storybooks, the citizens of Kingwood are living, breathing reincarnations of these legends. No one knows why they exist.

In fact, aside from dreams and memories that sometimes spark up, no one is even aware that anything is different about them or their town. However, they are different and it is the town's magic that sparks the character deep within. And with more and more people moving to Kingwood, the lines between real and make believe continue to become more and more...

JUNCTIONED, an all-Final Fantasy game set in FF8

JUNCTIONED

Exactly ten years have passed since the last Sorceress War. Not only have Squall Leonhart and his team gone on to become public figures in their respective fields of expertise, but the world itself has flourished. Esthar, the once reclusive technological marvel, lowers its cloaking devices in a show of faith to the rest of the world; the absence of Deling City's once tyrannical stronghold over the Galbadian continent allows the passion for transportation and telecommunication to make their triumphant return. A formerly sparse world map sees the reconstruction of towns desiccated by the strains of military occupation, and new settlements seem to pop up overnight.

People, however, are never far from conflict. Vinzer Deling was by no means the only man hungry for power, and the last decade has given rise to countless others poised for global domination. Religious zealots known as Hyne's Descendants decry the use of magic and Guardian Forces by those unworthy, and are rumored to have found ways of tampering with natural draw points to poison its users. Finally a group of concerned citizens, calling themselves Cultivators, advocate for the reformation or complete dismantling of Balamb, Galbadia and Trabia. In the absence of a Sorceress threat they are convinced Garden is but a breeding ground for trained mercenaries at the beck and call of the highest bidder.

Of course, those closely affiliated with the Gardens know that its services are needed now more than ever. A changing world leads to civil unrest, and there are fires big and small to be put out. Their mission statement may have begun with the protection of innocents against Sorceresses, but it certainly hasn't ended there. Our story carries on and the state of the future is still yet to be determined.

[info]junctioned is a Final Fantasy VIII game set ten years after the fall of Ultimecia. It centers around Balamb Garden's staff and student body, with opportunities for further characterization elsewhere. We allow canon FFVIII characters, characters from other Final Fantasy games that can be edited to fit the setting, and original characters.

We've also got a couple of open slots for FF8 characters like Selphie, Irvine and Raijin! Check our wanted board for sought after lines and characters.
