Can importing get easier?

Well, I am thinking that IJ is the better alternative (vs. GJ) but sadly I dont see if there is a way to import my LJ journal entries from the past into this journal. Anyone know?

You can find a lot of great information on how to backup your journal and transfer it over here
These programs, as far as I know, are only compatible with Windows based systems. If you're using a Mac, the commenter below me references the only program I know of to do so. Sorry if none of this was very helpful for you.
What platform are you using? I don't know anything about the tools available for Windows, but I know they exist, and someone will be able to advise you. If you're on a Mac, there's a neat Python tool that will import your entries, and archive your entries, comments, and icons to your own hard drive. Sadly, though, it won't migrate comments; I'm hoping someone figures out a way of doing that, but I don't know of anything at present.
Linux is what I use.
Then the python tool should work for you, I'm pretty sure. Hang on a couple of minutes and I'll find the link.
-- okay, the tool is at http://antennapedia.livejournal.com/266462.html. The author says it should work on most Linux distros; I hope it solves at least some of the problem for you!
Ha, you beat me to it -- that's the one I was going to suggest.
The Python tool worked perfectly for me, on Ubuntu Feisty. What distro are you using?
that's a super-duper tool--it migrated (copied) all my posts from LJ to both IJ and GJ. (granted, I haven't been journalling long--just a grand total of 3 months).
Does anyone know of a tool that will do the same thing on a Mac? Not for me but two friends I'd love to see move over here. Anything I can show them?
This tool works on Mac. It's not very newb-friendly, but it's actually very easy to use :)
The Python tool we've been talking about upthread works on OS X. And it includes instructions for folks who don't have experience working with the Terminal; I used it with no problems, and I'm no programmer.
