I understand now why guys have babies.

I take Ace down to the beach for a few hours, just us guys hanging in our board shorts and no shirts. We're there barely 10 minutes, and these girls just come out of the woodwork. And they're there for ACE. Holy Lord, it was a thing of beauty watching my son flirt with the ladies.

Random nights I just miss being a kid like I was last summer. I don't regret what I have. I just miss that lack of routine.

A year and two days ago six tests spelled it out for me.

Tomorrow, my son will be four months old. Eight months away from celebrating his first birthday.

Where has the time gone? A year and three days ago the craziest thing I had going for me was that stupid wedding and those stupid drinks and that stupid arrest thanks to Lassie.

Time's just flying. It's almost been a year since we went to my cousin's wedding on that cruise and I got drunk on those banana rum things.

It's just days from the point where I found out I was pregnant with Ace.

Inglorious Basterds wasn't bad. It's Tarantino, so death scenes had a tendency to be retch-inducing, but it was really interesting and Brad Pitt was actually pretty good. So if anyone's thinking of going to see it, you have my opinion on it.

Ace is gonna be four months old in just a couple of weeks. He's getting pretty good at holding himself up a little on his arms when he's on his belly, but it doesn't last long. Pretty soon he's gonna be crawling and stuff. The time flies.

Josef, tomorrow is out one year anniversary of falling out. We should all get together and have drinks or something. Too bad Sarah isn't here to see this.

Ace excels in smiling. He times them exactly right, catches you right when you're pissed about changing a diaper AGAIN. He misses Grandma Lynn. So does his dad.

Ace man had a checkup, he's fantastic. Was happy not to get poked today. Didn't seem to mind the stethoscope at all. Gave the cute nurse a big grin and further proved, he is his father's son.

So Ace ain't as floppy as he use to be. He can kinda hold himself up, turn his head, and the smiling? You should see this kid smile. He excels in smiling. It's been different, from what I always thought, being a father that is. Of course it makes sense that the role will change as Ace does, but right now all the kid needs is hugs and razzies to the belly and lots of food.

Back to school, trying to get my program done by Christmas. Graphic design, still. Helped with the restaurant's logo and it turned out pretty good. S'weird. I've never stuck with something for so long. But hey, who knew coloring in the lines and doodling was actually something you could go to school for?

Lack of alone.

I got to serve and sit down and chat with a bunch of brand new Mexican/Americans. Just got their citizenship today and they came to Pina to celebrate.

I gotta tell you, that's a rush. I don't get down to my roots very much these days and it was nice to sit and have a Mexican meal with some genuine Mexicans in a place that wasn't a Taco Bell (which is Te-Mex for all ye who don't know).

Sat around joking in Spanish for about two hours before they left. The only part I had to miss out on was the tequila but four more months and that won't be a problem.
