Who: Lorna Dane, Alex Summers, and their friends and family
What: Lorna and Alex's Wedding Log - Complete.
When: Sunday, October 12th, 2008, mid afternoon
Where: Cardiff, Wales
Warnings? Shouldn't be any, save for mushyness and happy wedding times.
The priest was speaking and it was a glorious day. The sun was shining and the sky was clear, and it was warm, but not hot. Alex Summers stood opposite his wife-to-be, Lorna Dane, and found he was not fidgeting, not moving, but listening intently. The grounds were decorated in festive colors with simple banners, and tables with food and drink stood to one side for the reception after.
From the place where Alex and Lorna stood, the aisle stretched back to the makeshift dressing rooms, and to both sides of the aisle were seats holding friends and family, all decked out in their own dresses and tuxedos.
And Alex smiled, feeling his heart lift as he looked to Lorna.
Lorna stood, feeling as though her mind would never really get a hold on the concept that she was finally getting married to the love of her life. It felt as though she had been waiting her whole life for this moment, and yet, when it came, all she could do was listen intently, her hand holding Alex's as the priest spoke. His accent made the words a little hard to follow, but months of living in England had made it easier to decipher accents.
She felt as though her face would break from smiling, and she was sweating, despite the cooler temperature. Her eyes met Alex's, and she felt as though she would melt into the ground. This was everything she'd ever dreamed of, and so much more.
Alex bounced as the priest paused, then spoke to him.
"Alex Summers, do you have words you would speak to this woman, to show your love?"
"Yes, sir."
"Then speak them, and let all see and hear."
Alex swallowed and looked at Lorna, smiling softly at her as his heart seemed to break in a wave of emotion, of love, all over again. She was magnificent, and never more so than today.
"We met, here, and we had no idea about destiny, about life in the universe we came from, about anything solid, really. I saw you, and found I wanted to see you again. I didn't fall immediately, but I fell quickly, utterly, and completely, in love with you. All I know, now and forever, is that I want you to be mine, and to be yours, to show you, every day, how much I love you, and to stand with you, no matter what happens, until the end of my life."
He nodded and then nodded to the Priest as well.
The Priest spoke again. "Lorna Dane, do you have words you would speak to this man, to show your love?"
She nodded, and took a deep breath. "I'm not so good with words. But you make me want to be the best possible person I can. I fell in love with you when I wasn't looking, and now that I am, I marvel at how I could ever be so lucky as to meet a man like you. It makes me proud to be your wife, and excited for our coming life together."
She swallowed, and then nodded. It was sheer willpower that kept her from rambling, the way she usually did when she was nervous. Her hands were both holding his now, and she smiled at
him, a different smile from the one she had been wearing before. This was one she wore only for him.
Alex blushed and grinned as the Priest spoke again.
"Do you have the rings?"
Alex pulled them out of his pocket and nodded.
"Then, you, Alex, take Lorna's hand, and place the ring on her finger and repeat after me; With this ring, I thee wed."
Alex did so, sliding the ring onto Lorna's finger slowly, and grinning as he spoke the words, his heart beating fast.
"With this ring, I thee wed."
Then he handed Lorna the ring to slide on his hand. The Priest turned his attention to her.
"And you, Lorna, slide the ring onto Alex's finger and repeat after me; With this ring, I thee wed."
She nodded, and her hands were trembling so badly she nearly dropped the ring. Slowly, she slid it onto his finger, eyes meeting her husband's as she said, "Alex, with this ring, I thee wed."
Her heart was thumping in her chest, and she felt as though her knees would give out any second from the sheer hugeness of what was going on.
Alex felt his heart soar as he watched and felt her there.
The Priest smiled and nodded, then looked at them both, eyes warm.
"By the power invested in me, I now pronounce you man and wife. You may now kiss the bride."
Alex kissed her, stepping to place his hands on her hips as he leaned in. It was a good kiss and his heart pounded.
The Priest looked out over the crowd and spoke. "With pleasure and honor, I present to you Mr. and Mrs. Alex Summers."
And it was done.
Lorna wound her hands around Alex's shoulders, kissing him for a good long while. She couldn't hear what the priest said at the end, her heart was pounding so loudly in her ears, but she grinned up at her husband, and then pulled him down for another kiss.
"Love you," she whispered, as she pulled away from the second kiss.
He kissed her back and smiled, eyes full of her. "I love you too, gorgeous, wonderful, Wife!"
He whirled her in his arms and then turned to face the crowd. "We're married!"
From several places, cheers sounded.
