A/N: Guido da Montefeltro is one of the characters from Dante's Inferno and an inmate of the Eighth Circle of Hell, in the part devoted to Evil Counsellors. An advisor to Pope Boniface VIII, da Montefeltro was promised anticipatory absolution—forgiveness for a sin given prior to the perpetration of the sin itself, and afterward suffered in Hell, concealed and consumed by flames, as absolution cannot be gained without repentance, and it is impossible to repent a sin before committing it.
